To be fair, I think the club is in something of a tight spot over this.  On one hand, Brian Hillier did a great deal for the club during the 1980s (as others have said below).  On the other, he is inextricably associated with a scandal that brought the club in to the national spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Jan - I think your use of the word 'scandalous' is little OTT.  While those who want to are free to make their own private expressions of regret for his passing, I really don't think the club should feel obliged to make a public statement.  To do so could prove quite divisive, both within the club and through the wider football community.

I can see both points of view here and won't be surprised if the new Board decide to distance themselves from previous regimes.

I'm not saying I agree, but I would understand.

So the bloke who stiched us up to the FA did get a minutes silence and Brian Hiller doesnt.

Where's Reg? He'd know whether they should have one or not.

He was a bloke who had the best interests of Swindon Town at heart.  He has passed away.  STFC, which was a massive part of his life, should at least put an article on their official site to say they are sorry to hear about the loss of a former chairman.

Despite what some OTT manager said a few years ago football isn't a matter of life and death, end of.

For any former chairman to pass away without a mention is, as I said before scandalous.

There should definitely be a minutes silence or appleause, BH only did what lot's of other chairmen did, they got away with it little Swindon were picked on as they didn't have the muscle to fight back.

Sorry but I cant stary quiet any longer, just becuase the bloke has died he seems to have become a modern day Robin Hood in some peoples eyes.He broke the law, got caught and got us demoted. presiding over a scandel that is still to this day an embarrasment to the club.

To be fair though it may not necersarily go down well with some of the older generation that was around at the time and don't know all the in's and out's, people will remember him as the one who got sent to jail and as has been said it may prove diversifying, we don't really want to split the fanbase over this.

FWIW I think the club should perhaps put something on the OS announcing his death and offering their symapthies to his family.

Personally speaking I don't really have an opinion as I was young when it all happened and was not really old enough to understand the implications for the club at the time.

But there are obviously those that feel strongly both ways.

Have to say I'm inclined to agree.

I just thought I'd say I don't really have an opinion on the matter. Thanks.
