When Fitton was looking for our new manager, he said: "Once you start talking the process can be quite rapid, but we will handle the process properly.
"We will interview three or four people, we will decide who our preferred choice is and we will go and get him.
"We have to have a look at what is available and we have a set of criteria against which any prospective manager will be judged.
"He will have to have had some proven success. That will be one of our key criteria.
"We don't want to bring someone in who is completely unproven. It is just not wise at this stage of the club's development."
Unless AF was mis-quoted by the BBC when he appointed Malpas, he went against his own employment criteria and appointed an unproven muppet (conveniently recomended for service by the then departing Luggy) with fuck all experience other than getting a shit sweaty side relegated amid jeers from their fans, and we're now suffering the fucking consequences!
I've tried to resist wading in to Fitton, but he's seriously fucked up here and needs to sort the mess out before it gets out of hand. He can't afford to dick-wave on this. If he sits on his hands hoping that Malpas will turn things round, he's going to look a right cunt if he fails, and will probably end up getting us relegated when it's too late to do anything to rescue us.
I rate Fitton and his board, but their honeymoon period is now well and truly fucked.

Maybe Fitton meant proven and successful in other areas. Malpas has played and coached at a high level.
It doesn't really matter why Fitton chose Malpas. I think all that matters now is that we get the best managerial team in to progress us on the field.

MM had worked with the Sweatie U 21 with some success, namely they wonna few games here and there, and weren't completely useless...if bringing through young player is part of your spec, that doesn't look too bad on a CV.
