Keep to his pledge of withdrawing from Iraq when he wins the election(looks certain now).
Got me thinking what a joke it is that one person winning or losing an election could change the situation in Iraq so radicly.
Without going into the rights and wrongs of us and the USA being there it seems ridiculous to me that the next regime can be totaly different to the last.If they pull out will Iraq fall back into turmoil....the U.N wont keep the peace so at the end of the day thousands of lives have been lost for nothing if this happens,US,UK and Iraqi people most of whom were innocent.
Obviously Obama will win many votes for pledging this and only time will tell i spose what kind of president he makes but surely hes playing russian roulette with the people of Iraq who want a free nation.
Apologies for a depresing subject on a Friday but its a topic that gets people yakkin.

Still a long why to go in the elections, in regards to the point you make leefer i believe he would be wrong to withdraw.After watching a few documentarys our troops think they have 10 years at least out there still. On a seperate note i think the newly opened debate regarding immigration will ultimatly decide who wins it. I dont think its as clear cut an Obama win as the polls suggest. |

Erm, isn't that the whole point of democracy? That you can change the regime and with it policies you disagree with? FWIW, yeovil's point re this being tighter than it looks from the polls is probably sound. There was an interesting piece in The Times about Obama's poll support as against his real support being skewed by the "Bradley effect" - the tendency of white voters to claim they will vote for a black candidate rather than a white candidate for fear of being thought racist (or, more interestingly, because they don't want the poll analysis to show 75% of whites will vote against the black candidate) then actually voting for his opponent.
