I'm after some advice folks. off to New York in a couple of weeks with my family, my mum has been busily stocking up on travel guides and what have you, i was wondering if anyone could reccommend any "off the beaten track" stuff, nice bars, cool stuff etc. the boy Chubbs was gonna post some stuff up but since he's moved into Bennett's lovenest he's fairly conspicuous by his absence...

Check out the revolving bar at the top of the Marriott Hotel in Times Square.  Nice views over the whole of the city and over Jersey and the river....if you like that sort of thing.

The bars in Chelsea are excellent, Gay area of NY but dont let that put you off. Little Italy is worth a visit for Mulberry street and the dodgy looking mafia men.

Oh and there is a good Irish bar just opposite the Garden, normally plays good music with good atmosphere, i told them that i was a kiwi as they didnt seem to like the Brits too much.

I was there for St Patrick's Day Parade 4 years ago. There were 10 year old school kids carrying "England out of Ireland" banners in the parade. I had my doubts they even knew where Ireland is, but they seemed to dislike the English anyway.

What part of England would that be?  Or are they confusing England for Britain?  And wasn't Northern Ireland forceably populated with lots of Scots (or did I dream that bit)?
