Imagine how much of a twat john lennon would be if he was still alive. Was a legend, but getting shot was probably the best thing which happened to him

Spiller at no.9 was bizarre.

Did anyone see the real little britain earlier, superb quote from the real life only gay in the village "The thing about Wales, you can't tell when people speak if they're actually gay or it's just the Welsh accent" :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick

Sorry reg, I was a bit harsh. I love the beatles and saying that it was a good thing john lennon being shot is well over the top. But you look at Paul and see how, although he's still a legend (especially after seeing him at glastonbury last year, which was awesome, more so becasue I was expecting him to be shit), Paul still can come across as a bit of a twat. And I imagine john would be much worse if he was still around. But you don't know, and obviously I'm not glad he's dead, I just made my point the wrong way.

I'd hate to make an enemy of the mighty Reg Smeeton, especially with his mighty football and swindon general knowledge.

Hope I've done enough arse kissing to make up for my careless comment .

Well I sort of agree with you Flamey.

60's legends that have stayed in the public eye tend to have become naff with few exceptions.I think Dylan gets away with it but that about it

.But the worst thing of all are one hit wonder bands of the 60's that are still touring. They always insist on wearing really odd camp suits.

Cheers for the back up yeovil. Dylan is more than a legend, infact I was running out of tunes to listen too and you've just solved that dilema... but the question is would he be more of a legend if he'd died 20 years ago?

Musicians that die during their peak of creativity either become legends or cult heroes, which is why I don't want Pete Doherty to die or disappear. I don't think I could live with him being worshipped like Kurt.

think that was my genaral point with lennon. Lots of people become more legendary because they are dead. elvis is the typical example. Imagine if elvis had lived another 20 years in his fat drug abuse state.
