Mr. Ashley has probably realised that the sight of him in a Newcastle shirt (probably not the one that said 'King Kev #1') won't go down well on the Toon supporters... In their eyes Ashley has fucked over a NUFC legend... It's only going to get uglier.

I thought he'd quit anyway? I'd imagine this is just one of those statements the club lawyers tell them to put out to reduce the amount of compensation the club has to pay out.

It is all down to Wise, the players that have come in are being brought in by him, Keegan has no input and they want to sell players he wants to keep.

Technically they want a coach not a manager, so he will pick the team and take training but have no input elsewhere.

It is quite funny as Tonn fan's were raving about Ashley and how he would take them to the next level and now look, he's not spending any money, got his lackey Wise in control of recruitment, forcing out Keegan.......it is wasn't so funny I'd cry for them...but I'll just laugh

Toon fan's have always thought they were bigger and better than what they actually were...roll on the next Sheikh takeover

Sheds light on what might have happened, rumour is he had a spat with Derek Llambias who fired him. Ashley did not authorise the sacking and is now trying to sort things out.

Ordinarily I really couldn't give a shit about Newcastle, the most overrated club and fans in the land. But it is quite an interesting story.
