I read somewhere that all Abramavich's investment into the club is in the form of an interest free loan (much like AF & Co's into STFC), and when he decides he's had enough they have got just 18 months to pay him back.

So already they have written off £15m for Crespo, same again for Veron and now £25m+ for Shevchenko, all of which is re-payable by the club at some point...
