Bollocks. Anyone can play well for one game, i think Eric Sabin managed it once or twice too. I based my point on all the other games he's played for us, not just the one.

I don't think anyone on here is saying Corr should have played instead of Paynter yesterday - so your knobhead comment seems pointlessly aggressive - been on the afternoon Stellas Si?

And no, Paynter should continue to start if he continues to play like he did yesterday. When he returns to the Paynter of last season, it's time for him to move over. And at that point I hope Corr stays fit enough to not give him another opportunity.

I prefer Guinness.

It was a mighty eyepatch.

And it must be worn until we lose. And then it must be retired, never to be worn again. Set alight and sailed out to the middle of Coate Water.

I can't wait until i'm bored enough to work out goals per playing minute.  Roll Eyes That'll be when i'm back at work then...

Roughly...

Paynter 2341 minutes (26.01 games) 10 goals. A goal every 234.1 minutes

Corr 733 minutes (8.1 games) 5 goals. A goal every 146.6 minutes

Although I think if you break it down this much it becomes pointless because it doesnt factor in other teams fitness levels, whether or not we are pushing for a winner/holding onto a lead whether we are home or away and whether we were playing with confidence or not....or how many chances we created!

Looks like we've opened a can of worms!

All I said, is that because I prefer Corr as a player, I was gutted he didn't start. This is my own personal opinion, certainly not based on fact (!), but I've often thought Paynter can drift out of games.

In saying that, when Paynter does play well, like he did yesterday, then he's a key figure. He wins headers, he holds the ball up and brings others into play (in a style not too dissimilar to SSP) and his energy lifts others, and the crowd.

But if he plays like that every week I'll happily see him line up alongside Cox! The key thing is that while we all have our opinions on who should be the front two, the fact we have two very good players vying for one spot is a better position we've been in for years.

Likewise, at the beginning of last season we had either peacock and Pook/ easton and pook/ pook and peacock in the centre of midfield. The fact that none of the above started yesterday proves beyond doubt that all those saying our squad is no stronger than last season is talking nonsense.

Ditto Kanyuka in the centre of defence...

Whether your prefer Corr or Paynter, the facts are these: 1. Paynter was awesome Saturday, 2. When/if Paynter hits a rough patch we have an excellent striker waiting in the wings in Barry Corr.

And that for me makes me feel very optimistic about the season ahead.

And I'm still not happy with the prospect of sitting in front of the most miserable b*stard for the next nine months. Even at 3-0: "if we're not careful we're going to f^ck this up". I thought we were already own listening to him! Honestly, cheer up son.

Only thing about the don rogers stand is that you can't afford to drink too late before kick off. I've always fnished my pint at about 2.57 then headed into my seat in the arkells, but you need about 10/15 mins to get over to the Don Rogers, through the queue and into your seat.

Well happy with my new seat though, reminds me of the 95/96 season. Row H in the DR, the front row of the 'second tier'.
