It all comes down to opinion.
Corr for me will score goals a plenty if fit, which is very unlikely.
Paynter is a workhorse will never be prolific, but there again Mark Hughes wasn't either for Man U.
It is just a personal preference, for me, a fit Corr before Paynter any day.
We all see things differently.

That also doesnt take into account sub appearences or what division those appearences were made in. Just gone purely for games played and goals scored. Not even im that sad to break it down any further.
What would make it easier is if they were on a level playing field, same division, same club... Wait a second... eureka! they are! What do the stats say for goals per game in a Swindon shirt DV? Opinion is great, i would love it if Paynter proved me wrong. |

that still wouldnt be a fair reflection, cos Corr scored goals in league 2 for us where as paynter joined in league 1

Its not just a hunch that Corr will come good this season. Hes a lot bigger, hes worked really hard in pre season.
In my opinion he is a top footballer. Not just a goal scorer. Just think his luck will change this year.
I dont know what your views on Roberts' long term absenses have been? But im not even excited about Roberts comming back. Hes one of the most unfocused players Ive ever seen and its time for him to go. Barry Corr is a top notch footballer and is well worth the wait. Hes not done anything to contribute to his own downfall, hes just been unlucky. The shoulder injury was a freak one.
Paynter was brilliant yesterday, and no ones saying Corr should waltz back in and take his place. But Paynter isnt the most consistent player around. Im sure there will come a time where we need a shake up.

Barry Corr last season - 9 starts 11 sub appearences. 5 goals Billy Paynter last season - 26 starts 14 sub appearences. 10 goals So Barry Corr made 20 appearences and got 5 goals. 1 in 4 spot on Billy Paynter made 40 appearences and got 10 goals. 1 in 4 spot on That is just Swindon games/goals last season. League & Cup. Doesnt include Corrs stint in League Two or Paynters goal this season... |

As for Corr, I look forward to him coming back properly match fit, I think he does have more talent than Paynter but I'd prefer Malpas to play people of the merits of their form and at the moment there would be little point in dropping Paynter on that basis. Oh and I agree with SW about Roberts. |

Bollocks. Anyone can play well for one game, i think Eric Sabin managed it once or twice too. I based my point on all the other games he's played for us, not just the one. I don't think anyone on here is saying Corr should have played instead of Paynter yesterday - so your knobhead comment seems pointlessly aggressive - been on the afternoon Stellas Si? And no, Paynter should continue to start if he continues to play like he did yesterday. When he returns to the Paynter of last season, it's time for him to move over. And at that point I hope Corr stays fit enough to not give him another opportunity. |
