Hi there,
I am a Tranmere Fan (I hope you already gathered that) and I come in peace. I am wondering what your expectations are for the coming fixture between our two clubs.
Our team has been playing very well recently and although our first real test was our only real test, against Blackpool yesterday (excluding the Liverpool match which came about with a new squad who were not fit), we have improved from what I saw last season. I admit that friendlies pay into insignificance when the season starts and it is points which are required as opposed to fitness or a money spinner.
We are playing a new formation (4-3-3) and our midfield is scoring and getting involved with the action upfront. Bas Savage is proving a handful for many defences and we have options in Sonko, Curran, Moore, Greenacre and the injured Shuker to play off Savage. At the back we were very strong last season and we are looking the same this season. Goodison is looking O.K (suspended against you though) but Chorley and Kay are looking very impressive. Goodwin Antwi is comfortable at Right back (I haven't seen much of him though) and Andy Taylor could be our star-player next season at Left back.
I am sure that has bored you enough but to cut a long story... We are looking quite good but I am sure you will pose a real test for us and I hope we will test you. It is hard to guage opponents at this stage of the season but with the likes of McNamee in your ranks I think we will have similar seasons and might cancel each other out.
I look forward to your thoughts.
Cheers, TF.

Did we used to have random opposition fans turn up in the build up to games on TEF? Is this the new forum structure coming into action... Can we no longer be the hermits of the internet world? Ah well.
You Tranny fans seem to want to come on here and tell us you're amazing... Fair enough, If you are so good we'll just have to try and be better I guess. Funny thing football.

It makes a nice change with the Tranmere fans as they actually make reasoned posts unlike the no brainer rovers, reading and oxford fans!

I'd fucking love it if you played 4-3-3 away from home. McNamee & Timlin will destroy you.

I don't think we are amazing, I think we are improved. I was throwing the debate over to yourselves to inform me and other Tranmere fans who are reading this forum of what stage you think your team is at.
Tell us what you think of your team, your pre-season and your chances. I think McNamee will be your key asset and I think out RH side might be our weakness. Away from home I should imagine our formation will be a 4-3-3 come 4-5-1.

They wont, they will have done their homework. Saying that it would be a bloody entertaining game if they did.

We've got beaten by Tescoma Zlín, Portsmouth & Salisbury - we've got draws against Steaua Bucharest, Fenerbahce & Cardiff and beaten Hampton & Richmond, Chippenham, Swindon Supermarine and Hungerford. Tomorrow we [fill result here] Plymouth. From what I gather we've not been spectacular but steadily improving. We've brought in Michael Timlin from Fulham, Kevin Amankwaah from Swansea and Lilian Nalis on a free. We've lost only one first team player in Miguel Comminges. It's been a quiet and sometimes frustrating pre-season - but I'm sure we'll give you a game.

The Nalis tranasfer did draw my attention. I think he is a very good signing for this league. I would rank yourselves along with ourselves. A team to pose a threat and a challenge to anyone in the league but might not quite 'cut the mustard' when it comes to consistency. However, we both have an outside chance of promotion.
The impressions of my first post might have been mis-conveyed. I by no means think we are the next Swansea, nor do I think that Swindon are going down. I would walk away with a smile on my face if we take a point from you lot!

Fair post and i think if we had been away, i'd have thought the same. I thought you had weakened until i read who you had, so i concur you'll end up in that 5th-12th bit along with us.
