I thought Nallis was a bit gash, especially in the first half.
Both smiths had a good game and I was nervy when Brez came on.
JPM I thought played pretty well, especially in the first half.
Paynter held the ball up well as usual but didn't look threatening.
Timlin was star man for me, did a great job in the midfield.
Morrison will be good but was panicked at the start of the second half.

According to OS Malpas wants to keep both of tonights triallists. Of them both, its Nalis I'm most bothered about us signing.
In a good or bad way? I can't see how anyone can fault him, did an excellent job and supported Timlin nicely. A good little pair we have there. |

Some gobby Cardiff fans outside the County Ground hotel before kick off. Bouncer got rid of them just as it look like it would kick off. Cardiff fans then buggered off went around the front and smashed a window at the County which provided some much needed air con.
Apparently after the game there was "police intelligence" (do those words go together???) to suggest Cardiff were going to storm the County. Didn't happen, loads of O.B after the game outside, wouldn't let us in. Eventually we got in after I made the copper look a twat.

Really enjoyed last night, it was nice to see Town playing attractive, passing football again!!
I thought Casal had a good first half and looked very promising (Don't forget he's only trained with the team once!)
Nallis was majestic (Bar the odd misplaced pass) but Timlin for me was MOM, was very commanding in midfield. MM now has serious options at centre midfield.
Paynter linked well with Peacock, but couldn't score in a brothel! Peacs did ok.
I thought JP and Jack Smith had reasonably good games, as did both goalkeepers.
The really good news though is our youngsters. Kennedy didn't look out of place and while Allen didn't have much time on the pitch, he performed well. Morrison, apart from his wobbly start, looked composed and Joyce did ok too.
Ifil and Kanuyka looked solid at the back in the first half, Morrison and Casal slighty less so in the second half, although Casals ability to play in more than one position is a bonus.
If MM get get Marshall back and sign Nallis and Casal, I'd be reasonably happy.

I thought Casal showed glimpses of what he can do, and adapted well to centre half when asked, he could have a lot to offer us. Callum Kennedy also impressed me, at this rate we'll be spoilt for choice at left back. Nalis looked a little off the pace (understandable) but showed some lovely touches and vision. But I was most impressed with Timlin, he ran the show last night.

I worry a bit about players impressing in such a game, because Cardiff were shockingly poor ( I assume it was mainly a reserve side).....Nalis indeed looked a class act, but there was so much time, I think I could have sprayed a few passes around. Still he's definitely the sort of player we need ie a playmaker.
Yinka looked OK...you'd like to think MM can spot a left back.

Nalis looks like that Miglioranzi type player we have been missing. Didn't run out of steam despite not being fully fit, although I'm sure he wasn't even playing near top gear. Like Mex said, I can really see that central midfield partnership working, or Nalis & Easton would be good also.
I like the fact we mixed up our play a lot more than we did against Pompey.

i enjoyed it, even if cardiff didn't field a particularly strong side i thought we looked like a tight and useful unit, usual defensive frailties aside.
nalis looked great and i don't think there can be any doubts regarding his fitness levels...sign him up.
the english/nigerian/dutch/american left-back was great. combined well with macca in the first half and relishes the physical side of the game as well - just the sort of player to give vincent some competition. looked out of position at centre-back but adapted as the second half progressed.
kennedy impressed me...but as reg pointed out, so did lapham, stroud, herring et al.
