Well after all the speculation that we may get him it emerges that after telling Mallpass that he would seriously consider playing for the Town he didnt even have the courtesy to phone before the deadline set by the Swindon manager declinining or accepting our offer....who does he think he is Ronaldo!....dont think he will be much of a miss anyway.

Is this a wind up?  Or have I got a serious case of Deja vu?

No worries leefer. It's been discussed in the other Maher thread... http://thetownend.com/index.php/topic,29623.0.html

Mostly on the 2nd and 3rd pages I think.

To sum it up, most people think that Malpas did the right thing, but it worries a few that we need to make some more signings.

I suffer from Deja Vu and memory loss.

I'm sure I forgot this before.

Can't see any better than mid-table to be honest Leefer. Top 6 is overly optimistic I think.

It's always easier to be negative than it is to be positive. I think it's too early to tell. I'm optimistic that things might start to click into place this season. If that means a high-midtable place to build on for the season after I'll be happy. As long as things seem to remain fairly stable and moving in the right direction at the club.

Saying that, things might click into place quicker than we expect.

Of course it's easier to be negative, that way you get more opportunity to say "I told you so".

Realistically, as things stand at present our squad is good enough for mid-table. Anything more will depend upon the new left back and other reinforcements being of a higher quality than we already have.

I agree Ben.   A good start and no injuries to key players (Cox and McNamee) could see us well up there. The start is important because it'll generate bigger crowds and even more of a buzz around the club

Good point Columbo, unless he was referring to us being linked to Maher last season.

No, no-one mentioned it.

Sorry for the DV moment.

That's that one done then!

MAURICE Malpas says any deal for Kevin Maher is "dead in the water" after the midfielder failed to respond to a contract offer.

Town's boss offered a deal to the unattached star before the weekend and was due an answer this morning, but his mobile hasn't rung and he has therefore ended his pursuit of the former Southend man.

Malpas said: "I spoke to Kevin on Thursday and he sounded keen. He said he would get back to me by this morning but I haven't heard a thing. So as far as I'm concerned, it's dead in the water."

if he was interested he would have phoned over the weekend.

agree malpas is playing it right by fucking them off if they don't phone back.
Even if he did forget his number surely a call to the club would have sorted it out.

He didn't get back to us. Just like Jones. So fuck him.
