Know its friday night and ime looking forward to the weekend,so i dont want to be downbeat but i was really miffed today when i heard on the radio that for the past ten years our local councils have been passing on our addresses and other info onto companys who then bombard us with junk mail and phone calls.Maybe this i could just stomach but then the bombshell....they dont give the info..they SELL it...for millions,as Catherine Tate would say...What a fukin liberty!..if i want people hassling me i can sell my own info ta very much.

It's nothing new, the government have been doing it for years. The only solution is to not be on the electoral register.

The electoral roll is the biggest database going.
Stop voting, and move, and you'll stop getting shit through the letter box!

Seems the simplest choice. Since the Data Protection Act no organisation is allowed to use, or pass on, your personal information unless you agree to it. That includes local councils and The Government.......

To be honest, its not that there passing on details..more the fact that they are selling them, have been for years, spending millions of our money printing these books with our addresses in then selling them on...and they do it in a sneaky way, without asking if we would like to review our decision to be om the electoril role or not....theres alot of old and vulnerable people who get in a right state with spam emails telling them theyve won money or holidays, and the spam comes from companies who have got info from our council alot of the time...another question i would like to ask isdo you go onto the electoral role if you dont vote?

Contact your (local) government and ask them you wish them not to pass on your details to any third parties.
