I hate them - where do they come from?

My cat keeps bringing them home - last week a dead one on the drive - she snuck in with one in her mouth this morning - it was still alive so my front room turned into an episode of Tom and Jerry

The shrew could climb the walls - yuck!!!!  Crying

Fields woods hedgerows. Mainly in burrows underground. Live mainly on worms and other small invertebrates. Cats tend to kill them because they dart about like mice, and then don't know what to do with them because they taste horrible due to some stuff they secrete all over their skin. The cat's probably bringing it home for you as a little present.

 Shrewsbury, Shrewton, Shrewburyness.

I think The Bard had it about right, with his timeless portrayal of gender relationships, between Kate and Petruchio.
