I have it on good authority that Malpas doesn't want to sign anyone under 6ft tall.

Surely you would be better off at a smaller club?  Wink

But that's my point Jan.  If people think Jones is a nobody and we should be doing better, but he goes to higher league clubs, then clearly who we think is any good is on the wrong radar.  Low is the type of player we can compete for, that's the way it is.  We may get lucky with the odd youngster from the Prem willing to give up the big bucks to play some football (they are on silly money at Reserve level these days), but mostly we'll be competing for the types of player like Low.  Mulgrew looks a decent shout, but he's probably only possible because of Malpas having worked with him before.

At the end of the day we are small club right now.  We may have potential blah blah, but we are where we are.

we showed last season that we aint far of a side that could push for the play offs.but we have lost a key player in comminges and the manager that made us the decent side we were(sturrock)
we had a big blip when malpas took over. and i'm worried that he wont get the best out of the players, and make the much needed signings to make that push for promotion.
anything less than at least looking like a side that can challenge is faliure in my opinion.
i hope my worries are to be proved wrong and the players malpas is after are good anough along with his management.

off the pitch everything is looking great but the product on the pitch is vitally important.
if malpas fails then it will be time wasted

We're in League One. We won't be signing any big names/star players. That's always been the case and will be until we get out of this league.

so having a manager that can get the best out of our players is vital.
can malpas do this with his confusing tactics?
we will find out soon enough

... but ffs, why are we chasing gurners like Josh Low and Richie Jones?

That is all.

I bet you've seen both of them play, what? at the most 3 times....I'm also willing to be for at least 2 of those games you were drunk to!

Because Malpas cannot attract anyone of any calibre.

Remember- he didnt tie up the Cox thing

I suppose he didnt sign McNamee either - that was someone else, but of course Moses Ashikodi was Malpas signing   oooh Timlin was someone else as well I suppose

We're unbeaten in what, our last 6 games? So maybe is doing something right.

So far under Malpas we've had a really bad spell and a really good spell. Everyone seems to remember the bad one much more!

dv,byrne targetted mcnamee and he would have joined anyway.and timlin was known to the club also.
agree about the last 6 games and hope he continues to get those results this season.
and maybe people remember the bad spell more, as we slid form  just outside the playoffs to just above relegation in a matter of weeks.

Loads of players have resurrected their careers once they changed clubs, why not Low?

All this slagging off of potential new signings does nothing anyway, so why bother?

Low is only coming as cover until Roberts is fit though no?

If Ritchie Jones turns us down to sign for Hearts, that suggests to me that it is the two first messages on this thread that are gash, and not our transfer targets.

Sturrock was after McNamee when he was here, and obviously he brought Timlin & Cox here on loan deals, why Malpas get knocked about signings ill never know!
Just because a previous manager wanted 3 quality players (Cox Timlin McNamee) does that make Malpas shit? would u rather he didnt sign them and got 3 other players?
