Excellent news ref 442, fantastic work by Watkins!!

Ref radio, what Fitton and Hodgetts said was it's not straight forward to

A. Break a contract, and
B. Once the Beeb lost the rights they then use the money they'd use to cover Town matches on other projects, it's not always that easy to then get that funding back should a coverage opportunity arise in the future.

Didn't the beeb say that they would/could cover as before ? FFS, they already have the team at the games, & would just have to reduce coverage of the non league stuff & play less records.
The major problem is the contract with Brunel,  I would guess. Their coverage would be improved, by the addition of a loudspeaker outside the CG

They get to write about the inside running of not just a football club, but the best club in the world.
I wonder if they will get the mag to promote the ST deal. It may add a few to the ST sales

Phil, it's all about budget apparently, like any organisation, as soon as you don't spend your "x" budget, in this case "sports" budget, you lose it.  Getting it back can be difficult.

Maybe we'll sell the magazine in the club shop and advertise it extensively around the ground to  a decent sized captive audience. I don't know...

First sponsorship deal they've done with a football club, I expect they're getting a relatively cheap deal. FourFourTwo are probably hoping we do push for promotion and the extra coverage this brings will boost their sales even further.

How many fans do we play in front of over the course of the season (cumulative)? It's a six figure number, which is a very big audience for an advertising campaign as cheap as this one probably is.

Then of course there is also the name FourFourTwo on every town shirt, which gets seen by the rest of the town who don't even go to the matches. I think it makes sense.

i think its quite a shrewd move on both parts, quite a few more town fans will buy the magazine for all the bits referencing swindon, and the exposure will be quite high i think. not exactly often that a football magazine sponsors a football team is it?

Great to be associated with such a well known brand although i would have thought this would be a bit of a conflict of interest for a football magazine - surely this will mean a lot of oxford, rovers, city, reading fans will stop buying it ?  Gills fans will stop nicking it, so thats a small positive.  I'm sure they know what they are doing though.
