Holland and Germany, went to both countries during World Cup and their fans are quality. The Germans even supported England at the fan zones. I think both their styles of football are attacking and entertaining.

I agree the Dutch are great but the Germans were supporting England???

The anglo-germanic rivalry is so one-sided you wouldn't believe, they only really dislike Holland (they aren't allowed to 'hate' anyone after some unsavoury business happened to do with Germany in the 30's and 40's apparently). They do like the British.

I will be putting all my efforts into supporting the Czech Republic.

I fancy Portugal to be honest. Especially if Ronaldo, Quaresma and Deco are on form.

Bloody hell I'd say Portugal have more chance of Dom Vasco Da Gama being on form than Deco!!!

Germany vs Poland must be quite tasty though. Especially with the large Polish hooligan contingent these days.

Yeah, that was quite a tasty game in the World Cup, if tasty is the right word, I don't know. I was in Germany for that and there was definately a 'different' atmosphere about the place.

90%+ of Germans still feel guilty about that 'away game' they 'played' in Poland in 1939 and for those 'holiday camps' they built there in the following years.

It seems to be only really the hooligans that hate Poland (?), and I think that's only really because they see them as a country with a large hooligan culture and a testing fighting opponent as opposed to seeing them in any right-wing kind of way.

I just noticed that they've changed the structure around this year, the top and bottom halves are separated out and can't meet until the final. This means you can meat the team from your group in the Semi's instead of the final if that makes sense.

Not sure it makes much difference. Might make it easier to predict the two teams that will be in the final.

Portugal for me.  A new guy at work used to be on the books at Porto when he was 16 and coincidentally is good friends with Bruno Alves.  Hes only just come over from Portugal so thats why I'd like to see them do well.

I've always had an admiration for Holland....dates back to the 74 and 78 teams.

Throw in that the Dutch play a bit of cricket and darts,  it makes them quite a civilised nation.

The 74 side was the best never to win a WC....should have, but needing to beat the Hun in their own backyard isn't easy.

    Total football...

A few older Hungarians may beg to differ...but my guess of best team not to win the WC would have to be either the 1954 Hungarians or 1974 Dutch.

I loved the 86 Danish team, now that was the closest to pure football I have seen in my days.  Talk about short passing game.  Laudrup and Elkjaer we're brilliant during the group stages, shame they blew up against Spain in the 2nd round.

Oh yeah they were pretty good...as were the USSR that year (maybe the best in the tourny - for my money).
