What more could the guy do?
Looked a certain third place when he took over in the Prem, Win the premiership, champions league, fa cup or even the carling cup perhaps? Certain third place after one month of the season? I think if he'd have stayed they would have won the league almost certainly, they threw it away by losing to Arsenal and Man United under Grant and not winning a couple of crucial games at the end of the season. It sounds so easy when you put it that way ... No pressure on the next manager then?

anyone who takes the job knows what they are in for - win or get sacked, and a huge payoff to boot.

Despite Manure winning the Title, who have been the best European team this season? And who have Chelsea beaten in Europe under Grant?
Honest question cos' I don't know the answer myself, but maybe Chelski had a tougher ride to the final than manure did.
Either way, for any manager to inherit somebody elses squad and guide them to runners up in the Prem (By 2 points), and being runners up in the Euro Finals, losing only on penalties must surely be an absolutely awful manager.

If it's not Rijkaard I'll be suprised. I hate Rijkaard, such a fucking prick Why do you hate rijkaard, because of the Rudi Voller thing or something else? Actually thinking about it it must be the Voller thing as Rijkaard has done nothing else in his career to make enemies of people. And in fact he probably made more friends than enemies after the Holland Germany clash all those years ago. Having said that I don't rate FR as a manager that much and as I hope Chelsea continue to flatter to deceive I hope they do appoint frank as manager and carry on not winning trophies next season.

I'm not saying they should have sacked Grant but they definitely shouldn't have sacked Mourinho and since they did they basically have to sack Grant.

chelsea are a club i particularly dislike. a club who despite all their money have to advertise on radio to flog match tickets. they could have won the champions league, and took the prem to the last day,but still the blokes had the boot.
