sometimes I wonder if you lot actually watch football.

we shouldnt be selling Paynter or even thinking about it, after Cox he is our best striker and a Cox/Paynter partnership week in and week out will get you goals and plenty of them.

Paytner was good when he was on form last season, just sadly every time he fit form he got sent off!

DO.NOT.SELL.
Yes that is right DV you are right and we are all wrong. We should only sell though if we have a replacement lined up

His goals to games ratio is far from fantastic, his goals came in bursts, he went 15 games without scoring, there has been plenty of games where he has been at best ineffective. And he cant jump to save his life. But you're the expert of course.

Despite having said all that I do think theres a decent player lurking within him, but we need to see a lot more from him next season to make him worthwhile.

Well, I just happen to think he's a good player and he's much better than Sturrock and Corr.

If we have got replacement strikers lined up, its Sturrock and Corr we should be replacing not Paynter.

He'll get 15 goals next season upfront with Cox.

A fit Corr is a far better player than billy boy.

i can see a cox-paynter partnership working well next year too. Paynter does a lot of the donkey work upfront which some people miss

Have we ever even seen a fit Corr?

I think Corr is probably a better League One tall target man, but not a better alround player than Billy if that makes sense.

If Corr can get fit and stay fit, great....if he cant then look to replacing him. He didnt earn his wages this season, far from it....

you'd hope that the donkey work, would hopefully allow other players to score the goals.

Like I said Paynter did it in and fits and spells last season. At one stage him and Cox looks liked the best pairing since Parkin and Mooney and did manage 26 goals between them.

Sendings off came at bad times for him and he couldnt get back into the side towards the end.

Think there is more than enough potential there to keep hold of him.

Im always willing to replace players if we've got better lined up, but we've got strikers worse than Paytner we could replace in my opinion!

Donkey work seems an appropraite phrase to me.   I'd rather see peacock up front, I thought he was quite good when he got put back up front for a run of games.

Most of the time we look a better team with someone who is good in the air upfront.  there were occasions when we played better football without a target man (carlise) but most of the time our team is simply not good enough at passing the ball on the deck so we end up playing hoofball to dwarves

Paynter is still young and learning the game. Definitely has some potential.

I look forward to him getting a run in the side especially with McNamee doings wonderous things on the left wing.

He seems to drop to deep si and by the time its whipped in he is no where near.

As for everyone saying about donkey work imo Simon Cox is the one who closes down in the channels and dont stop working. We need a striker that will just aim to get straight in the box

ever watched the shooting practice the subs do at half time, and pre kick off?
paynter was bloody awful at it.
when peacock( the bloke who admitted he aint a striker  :? ) keeps you out the team, then it doesn't look good.
he's a physical threat but thats about it.a natural goalscorer he aint.
i had big hopes when we signed him, but dont really rate him now

I do watch the warm up before the game, and if we go purely on that our best and most accurate striker of the ball was Andy fucking Nicholas!!!
