but can someone tell me if a player gets sent off during a Final i,e European cup,euro champs....or even the f.a cup final do they still recieve a winners or losers medal?

Good question. I think Zidane got a medal in 2006, but didn't ever collect it.

Maybe its down to the clubs discretion who they dish the medals out to....ime not sure.

My understanding is that they do receive their award, but it is not done at the official presentation.

IIRC this issue arose a couple of years ago although I'm buggered if I can remember which final it was or what the outcome was - just remember there was a cafuffle about a player who'd been sent off who got a medal when he shouldn't have done. Think it was either a Man U/Chelsea player in the FA Cup Final but I'm probably wrong. Doesn't each competition have their own rules for it?

It was Kevin Moran in 1985, Utd won thanks to Norman Whiteside curler, passed Big Nev Southall.  The FA refused to give Moran his winners medal so Utd said they'd send all of their medals back, as he had played in every round before the final.  The FA gave in, since then sent off players do get their medals.

Cheers Jan. Anyone know what the rules are for other competitions? Wasn't there also some furore over Zidane when he got sent off for butting that annoying git along similar lines

Not sure whether Zidane picked up his LOSERS medal, although I would have thought that he would.
