Absolute Calamity!

Trust members should have already received notification of this via email but for the rest of you (and Trust members who haven't given us a current email address): But warm words don't sell tickets and we need to put that support into action. Which is why, together with the Supporters Club, we met with the club earlier this week to discuss how we could help in a coordinated campaign for "The Race to 6K". The club have ambitious plans to market the season tickets at a series of events over the summer and when a timetable of these events is available we'll be asking for volunteers to help out. In the meantime, if there's a large-ish event taking place near you this summer, whether Football related or not, that you think the club should have a presence at, please let us know the details (dates, location, rough size, nature of event etc) and we'll investigate whether it can be added to the list. But to kick things off, we plan to start with a "Champions League Final pub crawl" next Wednesday. Sadly, this isn't quite as much fun as it might at first sound (although we hope it will still be quite good fun) - the plan is for teams of fan volunteers to leaflet pubs showing the Champions League finals next Wednesday evening. If we are to hit the 6,000 target, we will need to get at least some of that from "armchair" football fans who live/work in Swindon, enjoy watching football but don't currently go to STFC very often. Where better to find a large group of such people in one place at once than among those watching the CL final in pubs around town next week? The club will provide us with leaflets etc - all you need to do is meet at the Legends Lounge at 6.45pm next Wednesday. We'll be dropped in to Town to leaflet as many of the town centre/Old Town pubs showing the game as we can then meet back at the Legends Lounge for a celebratory (and by then well-earned) pint and watch the second half of the game. If you can't get to Swindon on Wednesday or are already planning on watching the game in your own local why not pick up some leaflets beforehand and take them with you? Leaflets will be available for collection from the club from midday on Tuesday. Please email either myself or Chris Tanner at the club chris@swindontownfc.co.uk to arrange collection of leaflets, which pub you will be going to etc. If you can't make next Wednesday's Champion's League Pub Crawl, don't worry, there'll be plenty of other opportunities over the summer to help out! "The Race to 6k" is an ambitious one but it is achievable and if we all pull together we can go a hell of a long way towards getting there. This is our chance to offer practical support for one of the most radical ticketing initiatives any STFC board has ever undertaken - we owe it to our club and ourselves as fans to do all we can to help make it work.

That's a great idea! It's really important that fans try and get the message out there and this is a great way to do it. I'd come along and help if I wasn't in London and in the middle of exams

Not sure Londoners and tourists are particularly likely to want a season ticket so carrying the 6K target promotion out here is a tad pointless. A pub crawl is of course a good idea none the less!
