v Bolton 1995 League cup semi - £149,371.

Surely this can't be right.  We had 14,034 v Brighton in the play off semi a few years back when ticket prices were around the £23 mark per fan.  On average given concessions etc I realise the price of the average ticket wouldn't have been that much but surely we took more than £150k for that match?

Just noticed it on the ows, that's all.

Even if the average ticket price was £15 we still would have made over £200k

All I can remember from that game was singing about how fat that John McGinley (that was his name, wasn't it?) was ...

I'm not sure how season tickets fit into the gate receipts but... If we had 3000 ST holders, including hundreds in the Town End, they were probably paying no more than £13 a match on average. The 2000 people in the SB will have paid £15 tops aswell.

To reach £150k the average ticket price would need to be around £10.50, which might be possible given that students paid £9 (I think) and children even less.

I admit it does seem low though

That's why I chose the Brighton Play off match as an example, don't think season ticket holders had cheap tickets for this match, they had to pay full price, therefore that should make the average higher than your standard league match.

It's just possible that the site needs to be updated.

I think Arriba is closer to the truth.  Gate reciepts means money that was actually banked.
Don't forget that  we still don't know here all of the money went that was recived in the 18mth period before the take over. Thats the whole reason the club was in trouble. I ain't going to list it again, but it was between 3 & 3.75 million that was "financially engineered".
I would guess that it was a lot easier to engineer gate receipts where a lot was tken in cash too.

Well, 5,000 in the TE/SB for Brighton at 12-14 quid a chuck brings that down.

The average price used for "back of a fag packet" calculations at the time was £13 to allow for concessions, kids, reduced end prices etc. I think neville's probably right

They may mean record receipts received by the club possibly?

For the play-offs all the gate receipts from all 4 matches (possibly even the final?) get put into a pot and divided equally amongst the 4 sides IRC. Which was pretty shit for us and shitty that season as both Hartlepool and Brighton had grounds less than half the size of ours.

Bolton League cup was on ITV.

I guess it was this that tipped it over. But yes I would have thought Brighton 2004 would have been bigger as well.

Dave as long as the average was over £10.90 ish we should have broken that record.

But good points made by others on this point.
