Well as up to last night the figure has risen to 3,446, with just under 7 weeks to go.

It's good, but there is a long way to go yet in time to deadline, and in getting the numbers up.

Approx 71 a day on average needed.

Four sorted for me, three newbies.

I think we might be due some flag waving from the club on progress. On one hand, given the recent trends, I think we'll do extremely well to turn 3500 into 5, never mind 6 thou.

On the other, if we already have 1000 - 1200 new season ticket holders, that means there must be 600 - 800 existing who haven't renewed yet....taking us towards 4500 and game on.  And if we do get beyond 5500, I can see enough momentum building and arm twisting to drag us over the line....

To be fair, they made a big thing of passing the 3000 mark last week, they've got a "cunting great thermometer" (as deltaincline called it) on the Magic Roundabout, they do pretty much daily updates on the club site on figures sold, tbh I'm struggling to see how much more flagwaving they can do.

There is quite a following in the Bath area. Can we gwt GWR to do an ad on Swindon & Baths channels?

Fair shout about 'flag waving' in that respect, what I meant was.....given that from day one AF and co have espoused the Japanese stuff - kaizen, lean, six sigma etc - as long as they are practising it, they'll already have a very very very clear idea about whether we'll hit 6000 or not.

So if we're bang on the money, I might expect some bullish 'flag waving' telling us precisely that, it could rally a few more to the cause and help to dispel a growing, prevailing sense that we're not going to make it.

And if we are behind target, they'll be putting into action a million ideas about how to catch up, which we'll soon see the benefit of.

Of course, all this good business practice should be managed behind closed doors, but I'm intrigued, nosey and perhaps a little carried away: is all this change really happening at our football club?

That, and living 25 miles away I don't have the benefit of seeing a cunting great thermometer every day.

All fair points Christy. At the very least they should have a "Cunting great thermometer"-cam on the official website

This would probably infringe on the civil liberties of the "Cunting great thermometer" in all fairness.

On the GWR question, you can advertise on as many as you like but GWR Swindon, West Wilts, Bath and Bristol normally allow a packaged price which is a bit cheaper than doing 4 different ad orders.  It's not that expensive either and I've noticed Brsitol Coty do it from time to time.

What other clubs have done is to have an "event" day at the ground linked to the season ticket push, so a meet the player BBQ style thing.  I'd imagine a bit of organisation could quickly create an event that the local media cover by way of it being newsworthy, so gaining free advertising.

I still think some kind of temporary presence in the Town Centre would help.  PLenty of empty stands in the Brunel for example, where the gadget people set-up around Christmas and harrass you when shopping.
