... as you may or may not know/care - both of those teams have been caught up in a bribing scandal - both found guilty - however (cue copy and paste from SkySports.com)
"Porto have been deducted six points by Portuguese football authorities for attempting to fix league matches.
The league's disciplinary committee ruled that Porto tried to bribe referees in two matches in the 2003/04 season, and, as well as the points deduction, have been fined €150,000 (£119,000) and barred chairman Jorge Pinto da Costa from the bench during matches for two years.
The league's disciplinary committee has also relegated Boavista to the second division and fined the club €180,000 (£143,500) after being found guilty of trying to coerce referees in three games in the 2003/04 season."
Quelle suprise - the darlings of Portuguese football get away with this almost completely (as the points deduction means very little) but the other gets the book thrown at them - the difference? One game.

As big clubs go, Juventus weren't as lucky in the italian league!
On the face of it it seems Porto got away with murder, but I have no idea on the detail of the cases.

Of course that sort of injustice would never happen over here.
Little clubs get relegated whilst big clubs pay measly fines.

Jose Veiga, who was to become our GM, until the Portugeezers dropped out, (remember him appearing at the Yeovil game!!!) was involved with both clubs. In fact, I believe he owned Boavista at the time.
