All this moaning about players from the Italian sedond/third divisions, French second/third divisions...

Are those divisions any worse a standard than League Two?!

I would expect that to be highly unlikely, I would say its got to be about the same level minimum.

I would think the bottom half teams in Serie B/top Serie C is the equivalent of L2.

Not a chance. Serie B is better than League 2 by miles. Even the bottom half of Serie B is still League 1 standard.

When we lost to Ascoli in 94, Oliver Bierhoff scored a hat-trick....he then went on to score a brace in the final of Euro 96. Standard of Serie B is generally well above Div 4, but Italian football is experiencing a bit of a slump right now.

Is it still bent as, in regards to match fixing? Haven't heard much about it for a while.

Football in Italy, reflects the corruption of its body politic.  Silvio Berlusconi, is proper ace, prime minister, but also a sort of Murdoch media tycoon, with a penchant for football and young girls.

It's still going on somewhere in Italy. There are currently match fixing scandals in Greece and Turkey at the moment involving their top division sides.
