The Latest:
4pm “The players who remain from last year know they have something to prove to the club, who gave them another chance, and to the fans.

“They will realise how much they have to do and we will be ready for the start of the season.”

4.03pm: On Oxford: “A lot of people think a derby is a different game to the others.

“We know it is very important to the fans. Every time you have to give 100 per cent, but Saturday against you Oxford you have to give 200 per cent.

“You have to respect the fans opinion, they will come with a different passion.”

4.04pm Jeremy Wray is pulled out of the press conference by Phil Spencer, Di Canio's agent. Hmm.

4.06pm: Di Canio says Jonathan Smith will be 'a surprise to everyone' next season, while Devera is a 'strong, young, experienced' player.

“He should play in League One easily,” says the Swindon boss. “It is time for him to win something.”

4.07pm Spencer and Wray are back quickly – so that was probably nothing.

Di Canio talks about formation and tactics, saying 'we must attack with five players.'

He also says he will use both full-backs to attack.

4.09pm: AC Milan seems to be a dead end/red herring, as Di Canio reveals there are no players of the right calibre/experience to borrow from the Italian giants.

4.10pm “Five days ago we were very close to a player but we couldn't sign him because everything changed.

“He was excited to come but with his family he decided he couldn't move abroad.”

Seeing as he wasn't busy signing paperwork and presenting scarves to new signings, why was he so late?

He was having a shit.

Was it my imagination or did Wray say the club would announce the exciting signings first? Were these the two that got away, I wonder?

Playing devil's advocate, I don't think the last week would have done anything to boost season ticket sales before the window closes on 30 June. Let's hope we can sign a striker or three in the next week or so.

Mmm interesting, I'm bored and probably reading too much into it, but if we have 5 attacking players, 2 of which are full backs, does this mean we are playing a narrow, holding midfield 3 with 3 up top and 2 attacking full backs ? Or maybe 3-5-2 with attacking wing backs, 2 holding in midfield and 1 attacking central midfielder supporting 2 up top, almost back to the days of Hoddle.

I just cant see how you get 5 "attackers" out of a balanced 4-4-2

2 strikers, 2 wingers and one of the CMs pushing up while the other holds?

A Christmas-tree 4-3-2-1 perhaps?

4-4-2 - 1 holding centre midfield would be defensive then 1 attacking centre midfield, 2 attacking wingers and 2 strikers (5 attacking players).

I think people assumed that was Adam Rooney. Not happening apparently.
