Too much to ask that PDC has been agreeing the transfers while back in Italy?

I may have misunderstood this.

But do you mean to say that PDC has not agreed to the signing of Devera or Smith?

In honesty i'm expecting a real run at winning the league and for that we need to be signing players that can play in league one. The two so far dont fall in that category really. Though i'm not dismissing they may do well for us. it was the club talking about big signings anyway.

I hope PDC has agreed the two in england, and doubt the club would have signed them unless he gave the nod. Just seems PDC is in italy a lot at the moment playing charity matches, hope he is doing club business while out there as well

I don't think they'll be squad players.

Fuck me, we're in League 2! What calibre of player are you expecting?

I agree with this post in full, I just wish some of the morons on the adver comments would realise this, I really wonder what some people are expecting?

I don't think it's unfair to assume Smith will be a squad player is it.We have offered Timlin and Douglas new deals if they both sign(big if i know) added to Simon Ferry then i would say he was a definate squad player.

I think Di Canio said Devera would slot straight in and Smith would be cover.

I was quite upset at first with the number of "name" players we were letting go, but the more I have thought about it people like Devera and Smith are just what we need. We want a whole team of players that will give 100% every game, and won't only decide to turn up and play against "big" teams.

Completely agree.  A team with hunger and desire week in and week out is a team that challenges at the top of the league come the end of the season.

seems like the right kind of players to me  - big strong leader type players with commitment

the key player signings will be the centre forwards we buy tho

I don't think we need names as such, but a squad including a core of players of league 1 calibre would be desirable if we really are trying to go up

Players get you promoted, not names.

Has PDC actually said anything since his initial press conference?  I have been abroad for 10 days so might have missed something.

not particularly. i'm trying not to concern myself with him going off radar in Italy since his unveilling, but he does appear to have taken a job then nipped off on holiday immediately... i suppose there isn't much he can do here while everyone else is on vacation

Some interesting thoughts of a York City fan on the signing of Jon Smith

http://thewashbag.com/2011/06/15/york-city-view-on-jon-smiths-move-to-swindon/

They rated him highly, however he's apparently still got some way to improve his tackling to cut it in L2.
