8.30pm: Our sources tell us a striker is in a car on the way to the County Ground. Torquay's Elliot Benyon is the man is question. The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals for The Gulls this season and could just be the perfect replacement for Charlie Austin. Whether the deal is permanent or not we'll have to wait and see.
Exited by that

There still making 15 million on Torres....and probably paying Carrol only half of what Torres was on..they had to act fast,i mean when you sell your star asset its best to have someone in fairly rapid....even if it means paying a bit over the top I bet Carroll will want similar money to what Torres is on due to the big transfer fee. £35m is probably £20m too much.

It's a bit of a drive, might make it in time for the loan cut off in March though.

2026: Right then... worrying developments for Chelsea fans, if what worries you is completely speculative chat on social networking sites... word on the Tweet is that Benfica have "pulled David Luiz off" and say they are "analysing" Chelsea's offer for the centre-half. I reiterate, that's unconfirmed as far as I know.
No wonder these transfers take so long...

Torres would have been on mega money....Carrol wont be near the wages he was on.

8.37pm: Daniel Sturridge is on his way to Bolton and reports say Johan Elmander is now staying so looks like Danny Ward could surplus to requirements at The Reebok after all.

I see Torquay have just signed Stanley, nice of him to pop down and pave the way for Benyon.

They do keep going on about Ward don't they? So earlier on they mentioned 2 players, 1 permanent, 1 loan. Since then they have name dropped Ward and Benyon. I wonder.......

2029: Blackburn have confirmed the signing of Argentinian midfielder Mauro Formica on a deal until the summer of 2014.

Can you imagine if Danny Ward did come back? The pressure on him would be immense. His ability and value to our team seems to have tripled with every passing week since his departure - he left here a good Div1 player, but we'll be expecting him to come back as fucking Maradona.
People will be up in arms when he doesnt score 8 times on his first appearance, doesnt find a cure for cancer in his first week and doesnt find poor Madeline McCann by the end of April.
Poor bastard.

If Benyon is on his way he best have left a while ago, otherwise he won't make it.
