I think Charlie's far more likely to go to QPR than Celtic, not much more than an hour away from his family and friends. To be honest, will be glad when January is done and dusted and we know what sort of a team we're left with!

Now if there is really that sort of money being offered we can't really say no to be honest. I really hope we do keep hold of him until the summer though because I can't see us replacing him if he goes in this window.

£2.3M, I seriously doubt it!
If it was offered there will be someone with one armless than they had before making the offer.

As long as it is a big fee up front say £2m then add on's then it will probably be a good deal

I still reckon we would get more by holding on to him. It's not like we HAVE to sell now as in the past, when we let players go as soon as a brown paper bag of money appeared. I'd be dissapointed with 2.3 mill for him. Rather keep him for another 18 months & then get 3 million plus

Dissapointed with £2.3 mill??? you serious? Thats a huge amount for a div 1 player, Iwould be dissapointed with £1mill, lets be realistic...teams arent paying out that sort of money much these days, its going to be a £1.5mill max with add ins if he does go.

Interesting that Peterborough turned down around £2m for MacLean from Wolves a couple of years ago, and have now accepted (according to the press here) around £1m for him.
If we did reject £2.3m for Charlie, there is no guarantee that we would get more later, especially IF he doesn't sign a new contract.

My understanding is that Hull have paid an initial 1.3million, but with add-ons, it could take it over the 2 million mark for Aaron McLean. Of course you're closer to the situation that most of us!

Fact is the player himself has to be happy with the deal...probably wasn't with the Wolves deal so he said no. Will be the same with Charlie.....the club will have to take the deal that he is happy with...even if that means a loss on the deal.

The actuall fact is that McLean is now and has been for a year on the transfer list.
He wasn't when they got the 2m bid

Fact is that Peterborough turned down £2m, and sain it would take a bid of £5m to sell.
MacLean then signed a new contract on improved terms.
He has been on the transfer list for at least a year (think it was during last season, not sure exactly when).
As for the fee, I wouldn't suggest that I know, but from what I have heard from Posh fans is that the initial fee us closer to £1m with add-ons. But whatever the fee, it is less than they turned down 2 years ago.
The key thing for us is to get Charlie to extend or sign a new contract. Even then there is no guarantee that we will get over £2.3m
