Seeing this from the Board's point of view, they may well think we've used 24 players this season, all our own, currently 23 are available to play...it should be DW's role to get an XI out of these who can perform to a standard of basic competence that has largely eluded them so far.
Maybe if a couple of short term loans can be wangled on very favourable terms...like Craddock looking for fitness then all well and good.

jcp might know what players earn? i heard nicho was only on £800 a week when he was here
You say only, but that comes to over £40,000pa. Given that lower league footballers are not exactly rich (save a few of the bigger names) that doesn't sound too far out. I think the crazy wages to top players in the Premiership, coupled with management games, have given people a very unrealistic view of how much footballers earn.

Good points Reg...but i for one dont want players coming here looking for fitness...certainly not on a short term loan.

I doubt the Board do, however we are in the shit, so short term measures may be needed ...a fella like Craddock may be able to provide a bit of stability at the back, he'd be on top dollar by our standards at Wolves, so we'd need them to pay most of his wages still...which they might do if they're also getting something from the deal.

I must say that I am a wee bit disappointed that we haven't signed anyone so far If we get someone tomorrow, and he plays, I really do not want to hear the line "he did okay considering he only arrived today"

I didn't think Monkhouse was that poor, Wilson certainly got the best out of him at Hartlepool. 10 games, 6 wins 4 draws 0 losses in the league which included 2 goals. I'm sure people are being hard on the chap. He was certainly our best player at Accrington - I imagine he was victim of that alleged phone call from Wise to Sturrock.

Danny Wilson has a habit of signing a loan player at the last minute and chucking them into the fray to see what they are made of ... so we might see a player in tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Back under the Storkycock era I remember a new policy of players having to move to the area and it would be interesting if it’s still enforced.
Under the old King regime a lot of players were commuting, particularly from London but some where quite a distance away from Town.
I’d imagine if you’re a young fella with no strings then it’s not too much of an issue but if you’re settled with a property and kids then it becomes quite a big financial commitment. More so with the way the property market is and to such an extent that a ‘local’ move on a considerably lower wedge works out better financially for these chaps.

Danny Wilson lives in Chesterfield, so I don't think he'll be insisting on anyone moving to Swindon, or even within 40 miles as was the rule back in the day.
Cox, for example, has relatively recently purchased a house in Reading. Not far from the Renaisance Hotel, in case you were wondering.

Dont think you'll find any that will move in this climate, (understandably), likewise that's probably why we cant ship any of our rubbish out.

Footballers rent don't they?
Having said that I do believe that Eastie is looking to buy here, that is if he hasn't done so already.
