NOW was linking Andy Monkhouse with a return to Swindon the weekend as he has fallen out of favour at Hartlepool and Wilson bought him from Swindon so rates him highly.....
FFS no! Glad to get rid of that lazy useless twat. We should move forward and upwards not backwards.

Wilson has stated he's been turned down by a couple of players this week, which is of course the same pattern as under MM.
The mongs always blamed this on MM, but the fact is most players will go to the club that pays highest dollar...
Good point that Reg, I am begining to worry about our chances, we need a couple of new faces to be brought in asap. Looking forward to tomorrow to see what two weeks of DW training has done for the team.

It worries me that I agree as well, although it does seem like geography is involved as well with there being more northern teams in the lower leagues, is it making it harder for us to find experieced players who are willing to move down here?
I dont remember geography being such as problem in the past, where players more willing to move around the country then, or was it just that we were a much more attractive club to sign for?

Surely we are a more attractive club now than we were then, they know they will be paid on time, we have a recognised manager the board are trying to build for the future.....

Basicly POWER..players are directed by there agents these days...so alot of clubs who like to pay agents will always get first shout...also mud sticks and ware probably seen as a club in turmoil to them(and us at times!)...i wouldve really liked us to have had a go at getting Windass here, could see him and Cox doing the biz...but no those Aristocrats from Manchester got him....yeah Oldham.

depends, before we werent stable but probably threw no caution to the wind and paid stupid money.
Also, the fact that we dont like to deal and/or pay agents will not help.
Plus and I could be totally wrong our wage budget is really low. There was a thread on another forum about your top earners etc etc
Now I understand most fans will be well off the ball and not have much of a clue who is actually on what and its alot of guess work some educated some not but take for example Bristol Rovers.
They seem to think Rickie Lambert is on somewhere between 6k and 8k a week and the rest of the team are on between 3k and 4k.
Now again at a guess, apart from maybe Simon Cox I dont suppose our players come close to those figures but then again I could be wrong.
Id say Cox was obviously our top earner but I cant see anyone else earning more than 2k a week but I could be going in totally the wrong direction

Those Wovers figures sound well over the top to me DV.
Assuming lambert was on £6k a week and the rest of the 1st XI only were on £3k that would equal almost £1.9m per year in wages to the 1st team only, which obviously discounts the squad players, management / coaches and all non football staff.
If you use the higher figures its almost £2.5m!
I dont know what Wovers turnover is but ours is normally around the £3.5m mark isnt it? I'd expect theirs to be similar given attendances / ticket prices etc

To be honest, thats exactly what I thought.
Those numbers could and probably are well off but every now and again you get someone in the know who does know those sort of things
but like you I'd be amazed is Rovers bought in more money and paid out shit loads more than we do.

I've been told how much Cox is allegedly on. Don't know if it's true or not.

Isn't a significant % of Cox wages performance related?
