Am I right in saying that Mr. MacAnthony bought Peterborough on the basis of watching them on the SkyOne show that we were in?

Either way, most people probably said it'll all end in tears from the off.

Yes he did. In a way i'm quite glad Iffy told Big Ron to fuck off otherwise he would have bought us.

We'll have the front three.

Which makes it all the more odd that when we played Peterborough their front 3 were shite and didnt manage a single shot on goal between them.

They obviously have something about them because of the goals they score, Peterboroughs leage position and the media attention but my god on the one showing I've seen they are all rubbish.

I'd take the keeper. He was great against us in a very quiet unassuming manner. No great saves just totally commanded the whole box.

They paid 400k from Norwich for him. Shows the difference in spending power I guess.

Is his financial input been by donation, sponsorship, loans?

Posh got a sponsorship deal worth circa £3m from one of his companies (MRI Overseas Property, the one n the "scam" link earlier in the thread).

And I'd imagine the bottom selling price would be £2n maybe rising to £3 or 4 m. The guy was pure quality. Definitely the best keepr down here this season.

Defence is obviously a priority for us,but the midfield just hasn't functioned consistently all season,

especially central midfield. We've simply got to raise the quality within the side and 2 different types

of central midfield players are available, i believe on loan deals.Tudor Jones (Swansea) who's the tough

tackling type of central midfielder, who Kingy raved about and wanted to sign, but was on trial with the

Swans is available,i believe for a loan deal.If we wanted another type, the ball player, then Darren Potter

at Wolves is available.I can't see us buying in the window,so if it's loan deals, then perhaps one of these

two,could be on our radar?

I know a mate of Tudor Jones, apparently he used to be a terrible footballer, that's obviously changed and he's a big fella, we could do much worse and location would probably help us.  God it's extremely rare 'I know someone who knows someone'...

I could be wrong but alot of Swansea fans think he's their worst player since, well since Kevin Amankwaah....

Given the quality within the Swans squad and the type of football they play he probably is  Smiley
Point is,could he do a job for us? Toshack must think he has something about him,as he gave
him his international debut back in march.

I dont think I have ever seen him play so cant really judge, my main thought after reading the names OTJ and Darren Potter is that they are both only what 24 which makes them pretty young.

If anything its experience and leadership we lack and need more of. Excluding the injured Vincent are Nalis, Peacock and Aljofree our only players over 30?

This has probably been posted but I cant be arsed to look

West Brom striker is in demand
Jan 3 2009

WEST Bromwich Albion striker Sherjill MacDonald has found himself a man in demand.

MacDonald may be a fringe player at The Hawthorns but he has been targeted by a host of clubs who are keen to take him on loan.

Blackpool, Swindon Town, Yeovil Town, Colchester and Peterborough United are all trailing the Dutchman.

MacDonald enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Hereford United last season.

Meanwhile, Albion are set to offload right-back Jared Hodgkiss and striker Bartosz Slusarski in the January transfer window.

Hodgkiss comes to the end of his loan spell at Aberdeen this month.

But Albion manager Tony Mowbray is ready to let the 22-year-old stay with Jimmy Calderwood’s team.

Albion, who will only seek a nominal fee for Hodgkiss, are also poised to let Slusarski return to Sheffield Wednesday after he completed a loan spell at Hillsborough.

Slusarski, 27, is surplus to requirements at Albion.

The Polish marksman hasn’t started a game for Albion since his arrival from Groclin Grodzisk in a £680,000 deal in August 2007.

He was also on-loan at Wednesday last season and Albion are set to accept a cut-price fee to get him off the wage bill.

Agree wholeheartedly about experience and leadership that's why i recently suggested Breckin (Forest)
but he's now back in the Forest team, due to injuries and suspensions. We can't continually go for over
thirty yr old players,we need to compliment some experience with quality. The fundamental question probably
comes down to will Fitton be prepared to open the cheque book? Reason i suggested two youngish
midfielders, is that i think we're only looking at loans and these 2 might feel they have something
to prove.

I think it's more a distinct lack of quality in the squad more than experience - Peacock, Easton, JP, Paynter, Aljofree, Ifil, Smith, Smith, Brez, Sturrock, Nalis - they've all played plenty of games between them (yes, some are better than others) but I think if we can't have the happy mix of experience with talent then I think I'd rather go with talent rather than experience.

We've haven't had any good ideas from those experienced players on the pitch so far really, lets get someone in who can think on their feet rather than once their on their arses... (having never seen Timlin before this season I thought that he might be one of these mind...)

The best loan signings we've had have been the young talented up an coming players with
something to prove ie.Shay Given,Michael Carrick,Jimmy Davis,James Milner.Back in 85 we
took a young left back from Millwall called Nicky Coleman,he had a dynamic effect on our
season and we ended up with the old Div 4 Championship. If we sign a dominant leader and
centre half, it's got to be an experienced quality player, on a permanent basis.

If Danny Wilson had any thoughts on going back to Hartlepool for someone like Michael Nelson,
with their cup run, i can't see them looking to sell.

Apparently we're getting Gary Sawyer from Plymouth. A centre back / left back. According to one of their fans on another forum.
