Other than Austin our hit rate on non league punts must be spectacularly low?

Raphael Rossi Branco, Whitehawk.

If memory serves he was a bit of a liability for a while, but then became a pretty good no-nonsense defender. Correct me if I’m wrong

Iandolo from Maidstone wasn't on their level but made a league career.

Does Khan count? I think it probably needs to be below the Conference South really

I'd wager our success rate is OK compared to most tbh.

Morgan Roberts i think was the last one we plucked from non-league, can’t believe that was our deadline day McKirdy replacement! 🤣

He'd been in Northampton's youth setup so had some formal training at least.  I expected at least a player on the fringes of a match day squad member from him tbh but he obviously wasn't even up to that.  Oh well, cheap punt, no harm done.

Colin Gordon from Oldbury United and Bryan Wade from Trowbridge Town were two good Lou Macari signings from non-league, as was Peter Coyne from Hyde United in 1984.

John Trollope signed Jimmy Quinn from Oswestry Town back in 1981.

Although Coyne was signed from non league, if I recall correctly he had been in the Manchester United youth team which was how Macari knew of him.

Does Kirkman count as a signing from non league given that the Welsh league is probably below National League standard?

Yes, he played 2 games for the first team scoring a goal, then went to Crewe for 4 seasons, Hyde United for 3 more when Lou Macari brought him back into League football.

Remember Peter Coyne well, used to like a bet, often used to see him in the bookies in the corner below the north stand.

I know it's going Back a bit but has nobody mentioned Rod Thomas. Bert Head paid £500 for him from Gloucester.
