I'd expect all 3 will be given an opportunity in preseason. Got to be one of the highest number of players for week one preseason in recent years!
Could have an 11 aside game today including some of the youths I expect and I don't think that would have been the case mid June for a long time.

Good to see Adam Hart offering youth players out on loan last season.
For a strength and conditioning coach, he sure doesnt half get around!

Was probably him who met Holloway. We're all thinking it was Zav but may have been even worse.

I mean - yeah that’s not his job but people know people in football & talk.
Someone having a connection to someone else & using that connection isn’t an unbelievable stretch to make is it? Nor a deplorable act.

re Vernam.
Was always a player I wanted us to sign. But this was going back 4-5 years ago.
Didn't realise his fitness record since returning to Grimsby was that rotten.
Apparently, not started more than 15 games a season for past few years??
Had a quick scan of the Grimsby forum. Apparently, when fit he is a class above this level according to some.
Let's hope for a Glatzel type situation where his previous injury plagued record vanishes.

If he's available it wouldn't hurt to give him a one year deal on pennies to let him prove himself, but you can't rely on that and would need another option in that position.

There seems to be an abundance of young speedy wide strikers at Championship and Premier teams that would probably be available for a cheap/free loan which I am sure Ollie will exploit as he has a fair few connections in the game.

A Vernam, Smith and Glatzel front 3 does sound quite tasty.

I think Glatzel is very much back up. Our purple patch last season was with Drinan in the team, and i expect it to be Drinan, Smith and 1 other, if we have a front three.

I think it will be very much horses for courses with the attack this season outside of Smith.
Potentially I am being harsh here but even though we did score goals in the second half of last season, I’m not sure we saw a consistent plan to create chances, it seemed geared more towards creating chaos and trying to benefit from it which fair enough may be a plan in itself but given IH had taken them back to basics to maximise the squad, it will be interesting to see if he sets us up differently this season to create chances. He spoke early on about liking proper wide players but we didn’t have an abundance of that last year for him to do that with thus shoving as many strikers/attackers on the pitch as possible in moments. That can be rectified this summer with players like Vernam.
There will be games where the physicality and determination of Drinan or the work rate of Glatzel down the side is beneficial but at this stage going off of last season (and I’ll be happy to eat humble pie if proven otherwise), I’d be slightly concerned if either of them are starting the majority of matches. Not taking away from the purple patch Drinan entered before his injury, more looking at consistency over a season to go up.

I think Drinan was very unlucky to get his injury when he did. A decent rum of games and his game was improving each week. I would have him head and shoulders over Tshimanga who was fortunate to get as many minutes due to Drinans injury. He reminds me very much of Billy Painter for his work ethic
