I guess Ollie knows and trusts him, but is the injury gamble creeping back in. Though one of the other recruits was similar, might be wrong.
Yeah Ball. Spent a lot of last season injured.

Vernam got 2 goals last season, both pretty decent.

Bagged a hattrick vs Colchester 4 years ago.

He does like a long range goal it seems.

Guess I'm a little nervous if the squad is being reduced to 24. Obviously he thinks that 24 can cover it. He's the boss!

I think he is a different profile to what we have had, asides from the few games Ameen had we never really had any natural wingers. I don’t look at Glatzel & Butterworth and think they are wingers.

If there needs to be a fee for Vernam, I wonder whether Butterworth or Sobowale might go the other way?

Moonraker report no fee required. But I don't think anyone would be shocked if either left.

Not entirely certain that Ollie rates Sobowale, Delaney or Butterworth TBH, all highish earners too in comparison and all signed by Kennedy.

All need shifting if they are higher earners in my opinion. Case for Delaney hanging around as a left footed CB but would be less than ideal if larger wages are eaten up by any of them compared to their return on the pitch.

Was thinking the other day that Holloway might favour more a RM/CM to back up McGregor in the RWB spot. Even when Sobowale was fit and McGregor was out he opted for Cotterill! I can see Sobowale and Butterworth out and Delaney sticking around.

I like Sobowale even if he doesnt seem to follow orders, he has pace and can cross a ball.
Delaney had a few good games before his 2nd injury and could be decent if he isnt injury prone.
Butterworth had a couple of good games but for all his skill and pace on the ball his final ball is often terrible and he flits in and out of games and doesnt really command any position that well, could be useful off the bench near the end of games as a nuisance value.

Butterworth I think is pretty good as an impact second half sub, but shouldn't be starting. If he wants more than that then I guess fair to go.
Sobowale I quite like but just is unlucky to have McGregor in his position.
Delaney is just about fitness really, there's a player there.
We've certainly carried deader wood than all three!

There were rumours floating around right as the season finished that Holloway didn't fancy Butterworth and Delaney

I often think the opposite with Sobowale. Feel he gets himself in good positions but decision making and final ball let him down. Preferred him as a RCB in a back 3 but then probably not a starter. His recovery and last minute challenges are good. Must be frustrating as a coach working out where to train him.

I'd expect all 3 will be given an opportunity in preseason. Got to be one of the highest number of players for week one preseason in recent years!
