In my experience the better quality transfers tend to be near the end of the window. I wouldn't necessarily say that any of the new players will improve the side. They seem like squad players to me. I think the best permanent 'signings' have probably been Ripley, Nichols and Glatzel.
My starting XI currently would be (3-4-2-1): Ripley; Clarke, Wright, Delaney; McGregor, Nichols, Kilkenny, Kirkman; Glatzel, Butterworth; Smith.
Could do with a left sided player; an attacking midfielder like Kemp; and another striker.
I'm assuming Ameen will probably leave.

I think this is broadly fair. We seem to have signed some decent, jobbing L2 players - not knocking that, any decent side is built on them. But you'd want to see one or two players who are too good for this level ideally, you can point to plenty in our successful teams of the past. You can be successful with just a workmanlike team well organised (Stevenage, Wimbledon) but it helps.

Completely agree. Yet to get the flair or above level players but have got the depth.

Shit, have you just hit the nail on the head with everything that's wrong with the Clem administration?! Maybe he thinks he's doing a great job with everything because all of us have told him how we need to do x badly. He thinks he's meeting the targets!

Is that a guess Bob or you know something? Had heard from a few Grimsby fans we were interested so it's really me putting 2 and 2 together. In this instance, I've no idea if it's a fact or wild speculation on my part.

Well he’s injury prone so would make complete sense why we’d be after him.

We’ve got the perfect Swindon scenario happening here.
Find out we’re about to sign a wide forward.
Hopeful rumours of Bobby Kamwa on X who would require a lofty fee from Newport.
Reality of an injury prone player from Grimsby.
A bit tongue in cheek there as Vernam does have a bit about him. I’ll eat my hat if we get Kamwa.

Still under contract at Grimsby so if it is indeed him, a fee would be involved.
Kamwa would be a proper statement signing. Never gonna happen unless we sold someone though.
I just hope it's not an academy graduate.

Vernam you’d think would be a token fee as hardly tearing up trees. I don’t see a world where we buy Kamwa. Vernam seems realistic.
