I dont think we can underestimate the influence on all the new signings of Holloway talking them into coming to us, every one praising their chats with him and selling the club to the players.
Defo seems there is some belief there for sure.

If the season started tomorrow, we could potentially line up like this. As a squad it already looks much stronger.
What else do we need to find? LB, CB and back ups to Ripley & Smith?
Ripley McGregor, Wright, Clarke, Kirkman Kilkenny, Nichols, Oldaker Ameen, Smith, Glatzel
Potential Subs Sobowale, Delaney, Butterworth, Drinan, Ball, Snowdon, Mabete, Minturn

We need another forward or two, ideally a winger. It's a very "central" squad at the moment, only really Kirkman, McGregor and Sobowale are naturally players who want to be on either side of the pitch.
Maybe the plan is 4-3-3 narrow or 4-3-1-2 style, but you'd like some width for Plan B at least.

Its hard to tell with Ollie what his favoured formation is as we have played with almost every variation from 2 defender to 3 to 4 to 5 and the same in attack. At one point we had 6 strikers on the pitch in one game!

Definitely need someone else who can pay LB, another naturally left footed CB would be good but barring another ridiculous amount of injuries we do have quite a bit of cover there and we're used to seeing right footers playing LCB down the years.
We really need someone who can come in as more or less a direct swap for Smith as needed and some real pace out wide.
Not sure, with the amount already here though how much wriggle room in the budget for that many though.

I think we need LCB, LWB and LW/Inside Forward. Still have 5 loan spots if he wants to use them. I'm also counting Sobowale as gone but I guess we won't know until they report in for PreSeason which im guessing is 30th June.

The main thing is there will be a squad to change formation/shape, something that we didn't have last year and when 3-5-2 very clearly didn't work, we had nowhere else to go.

I think Ollie will definitely be looking for a couple of wingers, assuming Ameen will be off too.
Bring home Danny Ward!!

Without going in to the minutiae of who's going to be playing where, what positions need strengthening etc, I'll just say I'm delighted with how the close season has gone so far. Ollie has really got the bit between his teeth and I agree that he is quite an inspiring person and I can see why players would jump at the chance to play for him.... it's a bit strange to be feeling so positive about the playing side and yet to be on a total downer re. the off field side of things...

Can’t find the article but 23rd June is I think when the Moonraker said.

I'm in the cautiously optimistic camp. I think we could start the season tomorrow and be lower mid table. I like that we're doing business early. We have a good core squad and signing some unknowns which could really go either way.
My main concern is that they'll do what they did do Flynn and suddenly lose their chequebook when it gets to signing the last 4 or 5 needed to really compete.

I'm hoping Holloway's reputation in the game will help us secure some exciting young loans.
The ones we had last season turned out to be reliable squad members after Holloway reminded them how to perform basic tasks but an exciting forward player capable of going past players and delivering an end product would be very welcome.
Holloway mostly likes to let players do their thing so that could be favourable to loan managers and the players themselves.
I'm also hopeful we can 'replace' Hall with an experienced CB who can actually play 30+ games instead of being a permanent resident of the physio's office.
I expect Snowdon to be understudy to Nichols if his perceived profile is anything to go by and for Matebe to be used predominantly as backup although he could of course be brilliant.
I'm really hopeful Minturn can make the step up and really get a run of games under his belt, feels like it's probably now or never for him really.

Based on the signings we have made, and assuming Drinan signs & Ofoborh doesn’t we will have 19 of Holloway’s 24 in the first team squad.
Assuming one will be a keeper that leaves us with four more to come in. LB, CB & two forward players would be my guess.
My biggest hope is that we don’t get a key player on loan, who is the recalled in January
