Yeah, Delaney looked pretty bad at times. He got badly caught out for the goal we conceded at Doncaster after 20 seconds for example. Sobowale was clearly out of favour as well towards the end of the season but I thought Butterworth was a very useful impact sub.

This is obvious with all signings, but with these 2, let's face it they could be anything. Neither has made a league appearance yet (happy to be corrected if that's wrong) and so it's very difficult to be able to say if they are any good. That's possibly a positive, there is no real expectation and hopefully they take to League 2 like a duck to water.

Ive seen some people get really carried away with what we've signed so far, but for me im cautiously optimistic. Ball and Oldaker appear to be handy L2 players to add to what we already have. Snowdon and Mabete, well who knows.

With the ability to bring on 5 subs in modern football, having a strong underbelly or a wildcard are a must now. The last few years we have not embraced that at all.

Last summer we signed Kirkman & Mitchell.

Both complete unknowns (although Kirkman had at least played men’s football)

Completely contrasting season.

Now a days the Premier League & even a lot of Championship teams money ball bloat their youth squads hoping to find some gems. It used to be way back when that you had to have *something* about you to end up in a Prem team Academy / Youth team but not so much now…

I won't lie. I am slightly underwhelmed so far.

Don't get me wrong, fantastic we are doing stuff early. And as said above, the 2 signings yesterday could be hidden gems ready to hit the ground running.

I just hope these are players to 'fill out' a squad rather than build around. I'm sure they are. I'm just saying that I'm not looking at this window so far and thinking 'wow' we are really going for it this year.

Perhaps I'm just greedy. I'm waiting for a Louis Reed / Jonny Williams type signing to make me think we are trying to be serious.

I'm in the same boat. The more 'serious' signings are possibly/probably being done later in the window. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great we're building a squad, but if we're seriously going to challenge, we do need 2 or 3 higher quality players.

With that said, Holloway appears to be able to get the best out of his players so I'm still hopeful we may fly under the radar a little this season.

I think being slightly underwhelmed is a bit harsh considering it’s not even mid June.

…if in 8 weeks time we haven’t added to the squad I’d get it.

Ripley signing was massive for me.

Modern football is one thing BUT this is level 4 football....Big strong Keeper, Big strong Centre back...Midfield and Striker. Get those four in place and you have a good chance of going up.

Early doors has to be welcomed, the late in day panic was accepted when were playing friendlies and had six signed on when Clem first took over but a bit shit since.

Signing shit loads isnt a recipe for success....poor old Carlisle found that out and then signed a shit load more to get out of trouble.

See yesterday's signings as educated punts. Not expected to hit the ground running, but if they do then fantastic.

There's a lot of time between now and the summer window closing.

Absolutely. I think that's important to remember.

I dont think we can underestimate the influence on all the new signings of Holloway talking them into coming to us, every one praising their chats with him  and selling the club to the players.
