It is worth noting that Freckleton was predominantly used as a left back at Chesterfield. Started the majority of games for them there up until the new year.
So he's more than capable. Like above - if we are now cutting out the nonsense of playing out from the back I'm sure he's more than capable of filling in there. Think it's best for all involved that he stays away from the CB position if he's staying put. Too much pressure.

I thought Freckleton was one of our better defenders for the first 10 - 15 games of the season. Then he made a few howlers that lead to goals a few games in a row and everyone lost their minds. In fact, whoscored still have him as statistically out 8th best player. https://www.whoscored.com/teams/159/show/swindon

He made some obvious mistakes in possession, but most of the backlash came from Kennedy saying mad shit about him being the best defender in the division and wanting his daughter to marry him. He really wasn't Taylor Curran.
Those Whoscored numbers sometimes look a bit weird for individual games but overall they have our top five players as Smith, Wright, Clarke, Cox and Kilkenny and I'm fairly sure four of those five are non-controversial (they have McGregor at 7 and Sobowale at 9 of the other fan favourites).

Joe on his Advert transfer blog: ''It would appear that the two trialists Swindon did have will not be becoming signings this month, based on what Ian Holloway said last week. There are three more players set to be at Beversbrook this week''

Freckleton also ranks 3rd in the whole of League Two for accurate long balls per game (something which Holloway has utilised since he has arrived).

Is it a large sample size? Even I can get lucky with 1 from 2.

He's a big cunt who wins his headers and completes loads of passes - I reckon he'd be very good under Holloway with the new safety-first mentality

I wonder whether he is one of those people who severly lacks confidence (I mean almost in a depressive way) and needs constant praise and reassurance that they can do this? Maybe that was what Kennedy was trying to do by offering him his imaginary daughter? If he is stuck here and we can't replace his wage then we ought to consider playing him.

I thought Holloway's comments re Freckleton last week were interesting. He said he thought he was a good player with great attributes and that Holloway could improve him further. However he believed that his experience from the first part of the season has left him mentally scarred and that it is probably better for him to continue his development with a fresh start elsewhere. He also suggested that he would be fit to play as from next week.
This suggests to me that if Sheff U won't take him back he could well feature again for us especially if our injury woes continue.

Pre Holloway virtually every defender was making regular cock ups. Not happening now, maybe Freckleton would follow suit. I’d keep him for sure.

I mean - he’s right down the pecking order now (or was before injuries) and ultimately in an ideal world I’d swap him out for another loan player in a different position.
However, if for whatever reasons we can’t do that - I’d be perfectly willing to give him a clean slate under Holloway.
No harm in trying him again if he’s here.

How will he cope with the loss of her if not. What a weird time to be a Swindon fan.

This. He played shit a few times and Kennedy made the whole situation worse by being a fucking idiot and saying the most bizzare strange things possible in his defense.

Agreed. At the time I thought it was unfair for Freckles to be picke don by Town fans and mentioned it, but his confidence was shattered with a few costly mistakes, but as others have said, Wright, Delaney, Hall and Minturn have all cost us several goals each this season but the individual mistakes seem to be clearing up lately, could work, now to lose in trying him at LB if he still wants to play for us and we cant send him back without costing us financially. Give him a chance in a couple of games before the deadline if hes fit. With Kirkman and Cox seemingly injured. I am more worried about our keeper situation than I am in playing Freckleton TBH.
