You would hope so but with 4 goals last season for Mansfield Tshimanga needs 1 goal in 24 to match that.

Well worth the risk I say

Remember Parkins record before signing here.

4 in 40 for Northampton. Their fans were laughing when we signed him. Needless to say, we had the last laugh.

Worth a good look at.

Compare the players that we have between say 8 weeks of the Holloway coaching methods and almost all have benefitted from his approach. Players are playing better than they did under any of the prior managers.

So...if Nichols is a player receptive to what Holloway wants, I would suggest his stats will improve beyond what we currently see. If he gels with Smith and can stay on his feet longer than Tschimanga (and we can offload him/send him back) then that might just be enough of a difference to turn the odd draw into a win, and the odd defeat into a draw, plus inject yet more positivity into the squad further improving their mindsets and confidence.

Yeah, so much better we’re still 3rd bottom.

When he was scoring every game in pre season i thought something must be up. I maintain I started Super Sammy Parkin as a chant unless someone else independently thought of it pre Sporting Gijon at home (which i think he scored in as well)

Parkin was a young lad. Nichols is a 31 year old journeyman. Bit of a difference there. Not saying he won’t score but this is a typical bland Clem signing that sums up his ownership of the club.

I highly doubt this signing has anything to do with Holloway. This is like his third year linked with the club and he’s been on trial here before.

Just have to hope he's the next (non) ginger Pele if comes. Unlikely, but not impossible I suppose.

Like everyone, he'll be judged on what he does.

It's about who, if anyone, he replaces. Marginal gains may be enough.

Nothing in the stats to get excited about at all. But we are skint and the third worst team in the EFL. Expectations are too high.

Yep. People need to change their mindset obviously

If we can sign someone as good as Michael Doughty next, that might help

Quote
Ian Holloway on George Cox:

It does change things. It is what that does for Billy too. With the intensity of these games it changes the dynamic as Billy can cover for Delaney. He is young and he might get injured or have a dip. He has been sensational so far. I have always done it with less players but the odd utility one here and there. I was never anywhere with two for each position and some spare after that. I haven't known that. I know that massive clubs can do that but I have been 22 or 24. I always used to save 25% for emergencies but the only thing I had left was out of work people who couldn't get a club. Wimbledon did that well and one of them rang me but we couldn't get one out. That was Sam Hutchinson.

So we came close to signing an injury prone 35 year old but couldnt get one out
