Cotteril, Ofobohr, Clarke and Mitchell already for me. Kinsella already proved here he isn't good enough
I’m not sure any of them so showing anything so far to suggest they are head & shoulders above Kinsella but will say Kennedy’s shit tactics have probably played a part in that

1. Clarke 2. Ofoborh (when played in correct position) 3. Kinsella 4. Cotterill 5. Mitchell
In that order for me

I don't think any of these players are particularly outstanding (good or bad) for the level, so it comes down to who would fit the system we're trying to play - assuming we're going to continue to play it.
Think Kinsella would look as lost as Ofoborh as an 8, and with less talent to begin with.
I know it's an old theme, but it did feel like we've accidentally come up with a system that may have suited Khan and McEachran (as an 8 and the 6 respectively) after getting rid of one and trying to get rid of the other.
If we have to play 8-6-8 then of the midfielders we've had in the last few years (Kemp excluded obviously) then you'd imagine something like Khan - McEachran - Clarke would work better than what we're trying to do now.
But there we go - the perils of the man picking the tactics and the man picking the recruitment being different men, who apparently are unable to co-ordinate.
Fair play to people for trying to have an opinion on Dylan Mitchell after 24 total minutes of football though!

With how we played on Saturday even Kemp would struggle as our playmaker as we just didnt want to pass the ball around at all.
TBH most of the game was anti football IMO, did we string 3 passes toether during the whole game? I truly dont remember seeing us do it. We didnt beat the fullbacks so any crosses into the box were from deep and of poor quality with none reaching their intended target.
We are way way more than 1 creative midfielder away from being an average team currently.
But its eary doors and it could have just been a bad day at the office all round, ala Aldershot, but at least against them we scored a few.
I will reserve full judgement until after the first 8 games or so still, but currently I see little to no shoots of progress.

Were we planning to play Kemp as a deep lying 6? Or were we going to play different tactics to keep him as a 10 and binned those when he didn't sign? It feels like the current tactic was designed around John Bostock, who also didn't sign... I think the tactical rigidity is really stupid, but if we're going to do it, at least recruit for it!

Spot on. On paper good players who aren’t significantly worse nor better than previous but felt they were bought in for specific attributes - attributes the manager isn’t really making the most of with his tactics. I don’t think you would have found a single Town fan who was unhappy with Ofoborh signing in the summer - most probably thought that with some game time & good performances under his belt a few clubs higher up the food chain might be interested. I can’t fathom why we aren’t playing him in front of the defence. Even if Kennedy want to persist with Cotterill deep - he could always go with Ofoborh deep along side Cotterill & Clarke as the singular #8 Ofoborh - Cotterill Clarke …rather than Cotterill Ofoborh - Clarke …and all that midfield nonsense also begs the question where McGurk fits in (when he’s fit?) because although only on flashes, he’s shown he can be a bit of baller something we clearly lack. It’s only 3 games & I’m already 100% convinced we need to change formation / tactics for our next game.

I said before the season started we are woefully short of being a competitive team, both in terms of players and tactics... Nothing in the first 3 games has changed my opinion . 1 week until the end of the window and no sign of the GK we were so close to 4 weeks ago, no confidence in anyone coming in having the required experience or quality to turn things around..

Smith, Clarke, Hall and Wright all had the "required quality and experience" at the time. We do need a keeper I agree

He clearly meant in addition to them, in the remainder of the window

We might well be.
It's getting late now and past form in this area is bound to have people twitching.
