Trialing is not big issue. Lots of players trial or simply train with clubs to keep up their fitness. Kennedy said himself, he’s happy for players to come and train and put themselves out there in the shop window.
I wonder whether player pay to trial and train?

You would think a player who was offered a contract after being on trial would not be a Plan A, or even B, type of player anyway. Plan A's get offered contracts straight away.

Yes, they usually do. What I meant was that I hope the club have a decent plan B or if not decent enough players next on their list to pursue.

Certainly, finding players is not our issue - our "close connections" with agents over the past couple of years mean we can rely on a steady stream of willing victims. Our trouble has been having the total budget sufficient to afford a competent squad. Just look at this January, while under an embargo of sorts. Plenty of players desperate for a squad place and plenty of agents willing to sell their wares.

Swindon want Kemp Swindon want Payne Swindon want Billy Bodin Swindon want Bostock
Oh will a 20 year old left back on loan do?
I see the same pattern emerging unfortunately

In the clubs defence Bostock chose location over us and Freckleton seems like a decent loan signing. Apparently played very for Chesterfield last season winning promotion. That’s pretty impressive at the age of 20.

There's no problem with Bostock doing what's right for Bostock.
But I get Dean's point, we do love an ex player link to pretend we are trying. It's too early to tell for sure but there's a danger we are back to youth loans to fill out our already youth heavy squad.
They've been a mixed bag rather than plain bad. But it's the ambition of the club that's the worry. Is this what clubs set up to try and get promotion do?
(Ambition almost always proportional to cash)
Still it's a tight league and we might get lucky.

I heard we made him a good offer too so he was basically wasting everyones time if he wanted a move closer to the midlands.
