You're probably right.
I just think worst case scenario as it's easy to do with this regime.
Did we just use a large chunk of our pathetic budget early on to appease ST holders and now we're reverting to type
Certainly hope not.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s entirely possible what you’ve said is actually the case. Be interesting to see how we use the loan market this season. As good as Kemp & Young were the massive downside to loaning same division / lower league players is if they play well the parent clubs will want to use them themselves or sell them. You get less of that loaning Premier League youngsters because even if they are tearing it up in L2 that won’t make them ready for their parent clubs first team. Still the chance they will recall and try & loan them the next division up but I’d say a Premier League youngster is less likely to get recalled if he hits form - meaning less disruption to our first team.

I will sound miserable
But my optimism from 3/4 weeks ago is starting to fade.
The club might know exactly what they are doing, but it's all gone very quiet.
Just got to wait and see. I share your worry. But we do still have over a month to do business. My real worry is we are at budget and need to ship out first, and that we are counting first year pros as proper squad players for cover rather than to be loaned out and developed slowly. We will surely use the loans market, and we know what means until January then redo. In all honesty what was your (anyone's) expectation. Personally I thought we were in league danger this year, so a lower mid table finish would be better than feared. That's how far we have fallen.

True. My expectation (pre Kennedy appt) was that we'd be in a relegation battle. The manager coming in and Clarke arriving early on made me think that perhaps something had changed. It still might have done!

Most teams use the loan market in our division and if we don't have the budget to get permanent in then we'd be stupid not to use it. I get the argument that we may lose them in January, if they do well, but that equally applies to permanent signings, who, as we all know, will be sold if the offer is big enough. We can always bring in more in January as well, and they may turn out to be just as good, or better.....I mean, look at Devoy last year....😉

I didn’t say don’t use the loan market.
I said I’d rather we don’t use the loan market to loan in players from teams in our division - because if they are any good there is 0% chance they stay.

Without ever actually seeing him play or even knowing of his existence before July You're always going to get the usually suspects on Twitter kicking off over things like this. His agent.

True. You do get some undiscovered gems from the national League. Looks like this wasn't one

I've heard we're still 'trying' with Bostock but no idea how that will end.
Guessing we have to shift players out now before we can bring anyone in. Khan going for a fee, you'd imagine will help. We've still not dipped into the loan market yet, I imagine that will be done fairly late on.

Its following the same pattern of sign a few decent looking players and then the money runs out that I expected to to be honest. I expect a decent start that will save our FL status (hopefully)

I think it has probably been mentioned somewhere else, but I get the feeling that if both parties 'wanted' to get this deal done then it would have been sorted by now. Who knows.

I've been told 'it's complicated' but know absolutely nothing more than that. Hugely vague but the person I spoke to expected it to fall through. We'll see.
