Judging from that article, I think he's confusing Devoy with Kemp😉.
I agree, not sure I saw much in Devoy, good luck to him there though he could do well at the lower level of football. If we were that serious about signing Devoy, I'm pretty sure we could / would have out bid Bohemians... pure hype on the part of the Bohemians manager...
100% this.

To be fair to their manager, it's probably just a case of trying to build up someone that is now their player.
He's hardly going to say, "well nobody else really wanted him".
It's a bit like us signing Grant Hall & saying there was lots of interest from clubs higher up the pyramid but he chose us because he believes in the project, rather than "he wasn't going to play much football anywhere else"

If we were that serious about signing Devoy I would have thought he would have been the first through the door. Not sure he was really on Kennedy’s radar tbh.

In fairness to Devoy when he played further forward I thought he looked okay. Not bothered we “missed out” though.

I don’t think Devoy is a bad player, but I don’t think I’ve cared less about ‘missing out’ on a player.

Personally I think if we can arrange a contract with Bostock (which apparently seems likely) and that we can keep his fitness levels up then hes a better option in midfield, he may not have the pace any more but he can read a game well.

I didn’t rate Devoy at all.
Bostock is past his best, Notts fans weren’t to fussed he was let go, I’d rather we kept looking.

Indeed, after we played Notts County at theirs last season, we did say that Bostock was exactly the player we could do with, someone with physical presence who could control midfield & pick a pass.

Let’s face it. We’re not going to get an experienced, industrious, hard tackling, ball playing midfield dynamo with our budget. Someone with experience who has seen better days but falls into (I can’t believe I’m going to say this) ‘can do a job for us’ category is more likely.

Devoy was a #10 but we played him in CM. In pre season we’ve played 3511 in some cases - Devoy would be relatively suited to the 1 behind the striker. Hypothetically we’d probably see more from him there if we play that formation & if we signed him Obviously we haven’t signed him & I think we’ve only been playing 3511 because we only have 3 strikers rather than 4 so can’t rotate 2 in 2 out during pre-season. Devoy will be no loss. If he had signed I would have been willing to give him a clean slate in a vastly different Swindon team but meh….all redundant now

Maybe it’s just me but I thought Bostock was a massive part of the problem when Notts played at the CG back end of the season. As bad as their defence was he kept playing high risk passes in their defensive third and putting defenders under unnecessary pressure with constant backwards and sideways passes.

The same guy suggests Bostock and 3 others in this week.

The same guy who went 2/3 with longelo, Delaney and the Cambridge striker. So could well be true.
I’m a big fan of khan. I still think, if he’s utilised properly and given license to get forward he’s a good player at this level.
Lacks the discipline to play as the deepest midfielder. Play to his strengths.
