Please no!
Indeed, he looked an absolute shadow of the player when he came back. We shouldn't have the wages or space to spare on more gambles and hopes.

F. Okenabirhie is the 3rd one.
Mentioned a few pages back. It’s one of the 3 players rumoured. 1 signed, 2 to go

Actions speak louder than words and so far this off season the actions have been better than they normally are. We have signed 3 players in June which I cannot remember in recent history and rumoured another 2 on the way. By the time pre season rolls around we won’t be too far off of a full squad (4-5 players) which is promising. I have been a big critic of Morfuni but early signs to me show that things may be changing slightly. Let’s see though there’s still a lot of work to do

As a slight aside, do lots of people really keep tabs on lots of L2 players. Always see comments "great signing", "what a coup", while I busily google which club they last played for!

I think it's mostly because I used to play a lot more FM, but a decade or so ago I'd heard of 80% of our signings before they joined. Now it's more like 80% never heard of.

I have no idea about any of these signings but the fact they are permanent, all a good age, all either have experience in a higher league and/or have won promotion from this league before, allows me to be slightly more optimistic about them that previous years signings. Lets wait and see.
Still in need of CB's and Goals

I'm with you Batch, I don't know much about our own players let alone another teams.

FM days and an encyclopaedic knowledge of players are long gone. Okenibirhie has been a favourite of the guys on Not The Top 20 for some time now, which is why I think that rumour is promising - they’re as knowledgable as it gets for FL players. He did well at Dagenham, then Doncaster. Cambridge wasn’t a great spell though. He’s not a “coup” as such, if he signs, but a signing that has some promise if we play to his strengths. It also fits the new template - some league experience, pace and strength. Ryan Delaney, I don’t recall him specifically, but he was a shoe in for another L2 club and their captain - so on paper, would be good too.

Looking at his stats for last season, it seems he bagged 5 in 15 before a dry spell in which the team as a whole only scored 2 in 6. Then he was out (injured?) for 6 months and barely got on the pitch after that. The early season form gives a bit of hope that he'd do well in a top-half side, which we really should be.

It seems we are looking for 'value' with players that have had injury concerns, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I mean look at Glatzel.
Have to hope that with a full pre-season and some solid medical work we can get the best out of these players. No idea, but I imagine it's part of a 'moneyball' type process?

But to be anything other than a gamble, it surely relies on us having a better-than-average medical / physio team. Do we have a permanent, full time physio and S&C coach? It seems to have been a rotating cast for a while.

Seems he had a quad injury which required an op. His only other major injury was a rupture achilles tendon which kept him out for the entire 21/22 season. I'd rather that than someone with recurring injury problems.

Twitter opinion (a single one) on Fejiri Okenabirhie
""Struggled with injuries but definitely has something about him. Good finisher and was borderline to stay/go here but I think it's his injury record that counted against him".
Only one opinion, not even signed yet, sounds useful but I guess injury records aren't opinion. ---- Thanks for the comments on who's who

Agreed. And even Glatzel hasn't done half a season yet! 🤞
