Might sound daft but as we are ‘taking over contracts’ rather than ‘ signing’ the players do the players have to agree to pay to move on are they effectively ‘forced’ to come here. Could they have said no?

They always have the option to say no, and wait until they are out of contract in the summer |

I expect the window has beat most people’s (admittedly rock bottom) expectations. Assuming there is no yet to be announced outs. I mean - it’s not been too bad considering we were told that no one would sign for us & we’d sell anyone we could… |
