How about "we had a forward who'd agreed to sign, but he went the wrong way round the Magic Roundabout and crashed and broke his foot, so he's out for the season"

We were showing a world star around, just as we got downstairs ready to sign the contract, he needed to go to the toilet, opened the wrong door to a cupboard instead and the Dubonnet Cup fell on his foot and he is now out for the season |
