This, we should have had 2 or 3 players in by now TBH simply to replace those who have departed on loan.

Forget the departures, we should have had 2 or 3 lined up and brought in just to bulk out the threadbare squad regardless of the loan recalls.

I really fear for Sat.

This is why I wish Flynn wouldn’t put dates on when he expects us to sign players. I suppose people would complain over the lack of transparency etc if he didn’t, but now we’re all expecting signings before Saturday (which tbf should happen regardless of whether he said there will be signings by then or not) and he’s dug himself a giant hole if there are no additions by then.

Absolutely, we have not been "pro active" in anticipating the transfer window, unless we really cannot afford anyone. Just a thought.

Exactly, even if best case scenario Kemp and Young were still here, we’ve known since the close of the summer window that we need 3/4 bodies ontop of our existing squad. Alongside that, anyone with a brain could have worked out that Kemp and Young would be recalled January 1st so they’ve had ages to prep replacement targets.

At a minimum we should have had 2 in this week and still might but I’m not confident with this club.

We've seen how long Clem took to appoint managers and how late business was last January.

We didn't sign Cain until the 16th Jan and the rest were all on deadline day.

The next few weeks are going to be an absolute mess.

Lets say that Clem really thought he had a chance of keeping Kemp, as he told many people, but everyone knew that Young was going so at the very least his replacement should have been lined up ready to go.

I also struggle to believe that MK and Bradford just rang up on 2nd Jan and said “SURPRISE!”

This must have been communicated weeks ago.

And anyway, we’ve needed an additional striker regardless. We should have had one in on day one.

Slow, behind the curve, reactionary etc etc.

You'd hope there would be a semblance of succession planning for a club selling their own assets let alone loan players going back.
It clearly didn't take the media team by surprise, they had enough time to get a few interviews etc

They probably have to be fair, they’re probably just using the summer tactic of waiting until the final moments of the window in hope that clubs and players will magically drop their demands by 50% and then act surprised when that doesn’t happen

I really can't believe Flynn has got to January and though "Happy New Year, ... New Year, that rings a bell...oh bugger..transfer window...knew there was something"

I'm not discounting the possibility we have players lined up to reveal tomorrow or Saturday morning. Even if its one out one in we have room for two.

But given the whole swathes of hints we are brassic, I wouldn't discount the "get em in at the end of the window, save money" theory either.

I knew I forget to set an Alexa reminder to "sign players" at midnight on 31st Decemeber!

4 loans have effectively returned so that SHOULD be 4, Mahoney, Kemp, Young and Ward(technically) all returning to their clubs.

Five, we had a space before the recalls happened. Bennn Ward hasn't publicly been recalled yet though, all a bit strange that one.

We actually have space for 7 loan players at any 1 time even though we can only play 5 in any matchday squad. A few clubs have signed 6 or 7 already this season.
