Wakeling can finish,we know that but Kemp no longer here to provide assists from midfield of course.

Out of interest why is everyone so against Gladwin coming back? Seem to remember there was widespread dismay at Mcdonald and him being sold 12 months ago. Offers experience, stature and capable of assists and the odd goal or two, attributes that our other midfielders dont have in abundance- Cain (only goals), McEachran (none of these) Kinsella (only experience) and Khan (odd goal). Not saying he is the messiah, but for me would not represent a disastrous signing.

Our main midfield issue has been a lack of covering the defence, and Gladwin was never much good at that at his best (in open play, he was a better defensive header than he ever got credit for).
He'd basically have to play the Kemp role not one of the deeper two, and he's nothing like as dynamic a presence. On the positive side, he might be closer to the speed of Austin but er... that is glacial.

I think most were happy to see Gladwin go.
He had no place in our team then and still doesn’t now.
Wakeling is a no brainer - if he’s available. Here is the only place he can play so we hold all the cards with regards to wage contribution and guaranteed playing time. If Peterborough want him playing we could possibly get him for £0

Franco Umeh I think I saw mentioned
I found this tweet regarding him: Like the look of Franco Umeh (2005). Another exciting Irish talent that has moved from his native land to an EPL academy. Tricky left footer with long legs; good control and likes to carry/drive at opposition. Operates mainly off the right but does have tendencies to come more in field - has also played a fair bit on the left and shown good signs but I prefer him on the right as it allows him to cut in and shoot - can get high power with his precision. Has shown signs of very good technique with that left foot - in terms of shots, balls into the box & deft passes around the final third. Haven’t seen much to rave about from his right boot but he does have a good willingness to shift onto it, at times to actually try to play a ball but also just to fake, to twist and turn the defender and the fact he does actually use his right at times takes his trickiness/unpredictability to another level. Umeh joined Crystal Palace’s academy from Cork City’s academy in February of this year (2023).

We've got until tomorrow midday I think to be able to have them registered in time for Saturday. I think it was Batch who mentioned that we could be delaying announcing signings until as late as possible so our opponents have less time to do any homework on them. I simply cannot fathom us not having anyone at all in before Saturday, even we aren't that ridiculous, are we?

This rabel I can we got it all summer. Col utd have announced players this week, so I don’t think it’s a case of keeping cards close to chest. We are just broke - waiting for asking prices to go down. Might get a loan or two before last few days of window.

Quite. I'm sure we will have 1. I'll be disappointed if its just a(nother) young gun*, but one fledgling does not a transfer window complete (* as a sign of intent, as it may Jake Young or Jamie Slabber ability wise) I say "sure", if the "nearly go one over the line" falls through I think we know things are the same as they ever were.

This, we should have had 2 or 3 players in by now TBH simply to replace those who have departed on loan.
