He may just want to play on close to home for a year or two if he is enjoying his football still. Every player is different and you're a long time retired.
True, I just feel he might have half an eye on maybe getting a team promoted [as opposed to trying to keep a team up] up to the Prem or something. With the right move, that would be his swan song at achievements towards the top level. He could then do a move to a League One Club in a couple of years. Selfishly that could be a more convenient timing for a club like Town also  But I defo get you, all depends on individual mindset, motivations, belief and aspirations - relatively for said player. As has been discussed before, money isn't always the only motivator however he will of course have a certain price point at which he'll be prepared to drop to. If it were just a money thing, I'm sure a couple of seasons at a Saudi club would be explored  |
